Getting ready to order a Zildjian Oriental China in 18". I've never owned a China. Any special way to hit it?

There are three major ways to hit a china. One of them is with the neck of the stick with the bell inverted so the cymbal appears to be upside down on the flange, the other like a normal crash hit with the china the same way, and the third is normal crash hit with the cymbal right side up. If there are any others I cannot think of any.

When you mount the china upside down it tends to give it a trashier sound, you get more white noise in my opinion.

Don't need a big kit for metal, Chris Pennie used a tiny kit for Dillinger Escape Plan and blew everyone away

I've been building on to an old kit for a couple months.

I have a 22 inch kick drum with 2-heads and a mic hole
14 inch snare with Evans Genera
    16 inch floor tom
13 inch Paiste twenty high hats
16 and 14 inch Paiste twenty crash cymbals
20 inch Paiste dark energy ride cymbals
and some bell cymbal that has no brand on it whatsoever.

whats a good 9 piece kit for metal\rock styles?
(i can't acutally find any complete 9 piece kits)

i see alot of 8's on Mus friend but no 9's

the 9 piece is my ultimate goal for a kit in life

    9 piece is overkill.

you're better off buying a 5 piece decent kit than a 9 piece musicians friend crap set. quality over quantity.
also it's really hard to find a kit that doesn't fit metal and rock, any kit with emperors over ambassadors can be used for those genres.

i've said it before and i'll say it again, buy second hand, for the price of a new 9 piece costum paint job -omg so cool guys look at this- Pearl Forum, you can get an amazing 5 piece Pearl Masters that is used but will still last you a lifetime.

you shouldn't look at a kit as if it's a number of drums, they have to fit together, it all has to make sense. 9 piece kits don't. and really, a number of drums as ultimate goal? really?

after getting my technique, speed, and general playing style down, yes.
im fond of both 4 piece (snare rack floor bass) and 9 piece (4 rack, 2 floor, snare, 2 bass)

so i was wandering with a bro of mine in the woods looking for a tree to build a tree house in when i found a piece of a car exhaust. i brought it home and hit it with a stick and it sounds P cool (plus two different tones depeding on whether i hit the end or the middle {very different tones}). but how the fuck do i mount it to my kit?
    im thinkin duct tape

Maybe drill some holes in it, and mount it on some kind of stand.

duct tape is fine for something like that i guess.

but welding some kind of nut or drilling a threaded hole in it is probably the best, so you can put it on a stand.

Have any other drummers here had experience with online session drumming or looked into it at all? It seems like a good way to make money out of your skills and I was going thinking of trying to get into it, but it's a big starting investment for me for potentially no return.

I haven't been able to play drums for like 2 weeks. I left my stick bag with the band at their graduation rehearsal, and I never got a chance to get it back because I actually graduated.

I've scrapped the idea of buying an O-zone crash, so instead, I've ordered a 18' Omni crash. Can't wait!
Got it for cheap, since a friend of mine recently got a job at a music-store.

    Thanks :D

I still need help with my little problem if anyone can share a word of advice.
    Copypasta from the old thread:

"I need a little help from someone who's maybe had the same problem I'm having now.
So..I've had my drum set for almost 3 months now. My drum set is located in the basement of our house. It's currently summer break for me and I'd like to play my drum set during the day whenever I'd like. But I really can't because my dad works at the house in his office(which is directly above the basement). It's not that my drumming bothers him, it's just whenever he has an important call he has no way to signal for me to stop drumming. So I'm basically asking what the best way to dampen the sound of my drums is.

Also, bonus 3D picture of my drum set: "

Where can I get a cheap but good snare drum?
I want only a snare drum so I can practice snare drum solos. I own an electric drum set but it's not the same thing. I also have a practice pad but I want a real one.
