Those who insist I keep my AK "pure," as if it were even that when I got it, abandon ye all hope.

I'm looking to get a longer front end on my AK beta - specifically, an AKM kit. No luck in finding one yet, so I'd like some pointers on how to go about assembling an AKM (NOT AK74) front end, or where to get one?

Secondly, I need some pointers on stock adapters...how to affix them ect. ect. because it's likely I'll ditch the hideous full stock I currently have. No coathanger stocks.

The flash hider is really the only difference?

I thought the front end was different somehow. Bleh. All the ones I was linked to cost $150+Asian shipping and were quality products not fit for a hacked-together JG. Does someone other than LCT make an AK74 front end?

    Okay, I have a choice:

ACOG replica, powered by optical fibers and everything. Comes in three colors; red, green and orange. I need help deciding what color. Seeing that I can't really even seen green dot reticles, it's really just between red and orange.

I'm not complaining because you're now making it into a real gun instead of a gay AK Beta thing.

Kawaii insists that I need to pay through the nose to get this set up right.

Where can I even find parts for a front end, and do they really have to cost so much?

Going with orange ACOG, seeing that orange is more visible in more situations than red, and red is ~too mainstream~.

I wanted orange but after searching the name of the sight only Red and Green came up.
    So I went with Red

If you want something not mainstream and visible go with hot pink, fuscia, teal, bright blue, or yellow.

Luckily I'm right-handed so the L85 wouldn't knock my teeth out. It seems like the L85 would be a safer choice in parts as well as brand reputation...I've not really heard of GHK before today.

GHK AKM for sure. Looks so much better than the WE L85. Shoots solid too.

I don't know, just from handling the WE L85 in store I had problems trying to figure out it. It's doesn't have simple easy to use controls. You can only use it right handed, and it uses WE M4 mags which leak of often than newer WE mag designs. It's a bitch to seal those leaks too.

Here's my video review of it.

    Late, but:

What kind of fields do you normally play at? You won't get a better MP5 than the G&G, but its basically CQB only. Thompsons generally suck, so I'd get him some sort of rifle if he's gonna be outside. Perhaps the tried and true JG G36?
I had a Thompson and it was actually really awesome. Just completely impractical.

So if you guys won the lottery and had absolutely no limit in terms of funds, what would you buy?
An entire machine shop/assorted other tools so I could make all sorts of awesome guns/parts that aren't produced/really fucking expensive

Ugh. The real Thompson has pretty bad ergonomics when you try to actually shoot it, especially on full auto. Angled stocks on automatic weapons are terrible.

The problem is that it doesn't throw a wall of .45 ACP downrange, it throws a couple rounds of .45 ACP downrange followed by the rest of your magazine straight over the range. Angled stocks are terrible because the point where the stock contacts your arm isn't in line with the recoil force, driving the muzzle upwards and making it a pain in the ass to control.
