    Here it is. This replaces the Antlion Guard model with an Allosaurus and includes a separate ragdoll model. Turning the damage up is recommended and makes it a real threat, don't let it catch you out in the open because you can't outrun it.

    It's a lot more dangerous than the Antlion Guard though.

    Did notice a few things with the ragdoll, if facing the allosaurus from front (head), his right lower leg doesn't seem to bend like the right lower leg. And his upper legs (both sides) are quite restricted in moving back and forwards but other then that its fine :D

    *Edit* Seems I found out whats wrong, I decompiled it to make ragdoll bigger (Usually do that with monsters, dragons and dinosaurs ^^) and changed the values on the thigh to make it bend more and it seems the Y and Z are different for Left and Right because the right moved in and out while left moved back and forwards with same numbers on Y and Z. Y on Right is for moving leg in and out while Z is for back and forwards and on Left they are switched so Y is back and forwards and Z is in and out. Same for the Calf, which explains why 1 didn't bend :P

    I might, we'll see. I want to make a Pterorhynchus model, I think that would be a lot of fun to make especially when it comes time to animate it.

    Just tried the model: this is awesome!
    Congratulation, you made the best looking dinosaur model, it beats most dinosaur from games and it's just a replacement.
    You should help the jurassic life mod, so we could finaly see this released :F.

    Only one thing, could be cool to pack the models/sounds/textures in an addon and instead of replacing the antlionguard, just make a clone of it with your custom model.

    I did it with my vortigaunt in hev suit, here is an example of code if you want:

    Holy shit did it get smarter.


    Went to Construct, spawned it, it lets out this earth rattling roar that pretty much said "I'MA F*** YOU UP!"

    So, terrified, I start back pedaling while it gets closer(IT IS FAST HOLY SHIT), I strafe away at the last minute ONLY FOR THE BASTARD TO DO A U-TURN AND KEEP GOING RIGHT AT ME. So I run to the water, sink to the bottom, all chill, and guess what THERE HE IS UNDERWATER RAMMING MY ASS.


    Overall a fun NPC replacement, and an awesomely detailed ragdoll.

    Hey RR_Raptor65, didn't you make a shitton of Dinosaur models a while ago? You had 3 different Rexes, a few different Raptor species, some sauropods, and some obscure dinosaurs like Rugops or whatever it was called?

    If so, then all you other people in this thread should check garrysmod.org, because a huge pack containing all those dinosaurs is still floating around there.

    Great job! There is a slight problem with it clipping into walls when it runs into them but still amazing anyways.
    You should also add jump animations to it because the AI can jump but it looks silly with out animations. The animations used are ACT_JUMP, ACT_GLIDE, and ACT_LAND and they should be pretty explanatory.

    He's just very fast, it doesn't take him very long to turn around and charge again so he'll be right in your face a lot of the time.
    True to a real Allosaurus he can't turn very well or navigate around obstacles very well.

    Please make Deinonychus.

    If I make any more it will be a Pterorhynchus to replace the Crow and a small Dinosaur for the Headcrab (Including Lamarr). Undecided if I will make the Headcrab replacement or what species it will be though.

    Oh yes, I still see them fairly often around different places and I still have the original website up. They even popped up on Trespasser when some people ported some of them into that.

    Yeah that's just because the Allosaurus is about 3x longer than the Antlion Guard and a little bit taller, there's really nothing I can do about the clipping.

    Allosaurus.mdl contains all the animations and such as well. The replacement is just a plug and run version, when I update it though I'll include the LUA that bigboss15 posted. The replacement will still stay for those that want to give the cave chase sequence a try.

    A fun thing to do is to go on ep2_outland_06a and put a bunch of Allosaurus up the road there and then try and make it to the top on foot.

    I found that the $realignbones command interfered with the Jigglebones. The Jigglebones still worked but not as well as without. Another thing was the orientation of the Jigglebones has a huge impact on how they perform and 3D Max doesn't give a rats ass about how they're oriented. I had to use Fragmotion to rotate the bones until they looked right, if you open the model in HLMV you can see the way the tail bones are oriented.

    Fragmotion can be a real life saver on some things but it has the most horrible, evil "Buy me" nag ever. It's great for fixing technical stuff like this though, as far as I know 3D Max doesn't let you reorient bones without a lot of wasted time and rage.

    I had to do a lot of fiddling with the different Jigglebone settings so if you need help getting something tweaked right just ask.

    I doubt I'll make another Spinosaurus, I would be more inclined to make a Suchomimus or Baryonyx.

    Those are all the old ones, most are just ragdolls.

    It's just a shame Valve never finished the Ichthyosaur, a new Tylosaurus or Megalodon NPC would have been tons of fun.
