    Welcome to the Zone, Stalker. The production of this map began on August 18th, 2010, and was finished on May 10th, 2011. Officially, this would be my second map. When I first started this map, it was originally going to be a recreation of the Cordon (which can be seen in Freedom's trading post, and the arcitexture of the UKM watchtowers). However, it was revealed to me that Jerry was already in the production of said map, and as such, I started work on a custom map: This map. Originally I began work on this map while playing at TacoNBanana's Stalker Roleplay, but when part of the community split, I was part of it. We founded Gentleman's Gaming Lounge where map production continued. I've worked quite hard on this map, and after months of work, I hope you all enjoy it.

    I advise watching the video in HD and fullscreen, and/or with your brightness turned up. Some of the images are a bit dark.

    |Installation|

    The installation of this map is very simple. Simply take the folders within the srp_occult_v1 folder, and place them into your C:/Program Files/Steam/steamapps/<YOUR ACCOUNT NAME>/garrysmod/garrysmod folder. Be sure to overwrite any files and folders.

    If you play at Gentleman's Gaming Lounge Stalker Roleplay server, you must be sure to have this content overwrite your megapack content. The two pieces of content have a conflicting sandbag model, and only mine works on this map.

    Yes, some of the areas are larger than they should be (pretty much just the radiostation though). I suppose that would have been lazy mapping on my part, but its also a good thing because it allows the RP players to place their own environment.

    I'll give the response that I posted on HGN.

    You have to get used to the map. All of the current Stalker maps (excluding Dolina to an extent) are far too bright, creating a standard that they should all be bright. In fact, most maps are very bright. It didn't take a day to get used to playing Stalker, it'll take more than a day to get used to the map. I may tweak the lighting if I make a v2, but it will still be dark.

I had completely forgotten that I should have reuploaded for Facepunch and Garrysmod.org when I provided HGN with a new link.     I second this. Release the VMF (Although I even understand this isn't entirely favorable, because I don't want to see a dozen half-assed remakes of this map with little or stupid differences.) or at least re-release the map with noding if you feel like it, or, another possibility if you're not up to it, give the vmf to someone whom you can trust, and let them lay out some noding.
    Also, without a doubt, there is a simple way you could packrat all those materials and textures into the bsp itself after you compress or downsize them. I have had numerous problems getting people to run this map just because of the mass abundance of materials and models in the folders.

    I would say, if you recreate the map with some noding, find some solution to the folder structure, and try putting a compressed version of it up on toybox or Garrysmod.org if it allows you to, you will start seeing that map much more often.
    I have continuously seen this between every greatly mapped map. I know it wasn't designed for usage with npc's, but at least attempt it, or give someone else a chance to attempt it. These are good maps, as is this one, but it needs to be more open ended. It is PERFECT for, let's say, the Radbox game mode, or even a heavily modified zombie RP, but the consistency of failing to provide noding is bad. These maps have great potential, and the creators are only designing and creating them based on how to fill the quota for the server networks they are making them for.

    You aren't filling a quota anymore, go back to this map, and do something with it. Make it provide more possibilities. I would really like to see this map out there, but I've noticed, at the time of this post anyways, that not one server is running it.

    Guess it's a good thing I decided to pop back into this thread today. I'll address each comment one at a time:

    Noding: Originally I was going to node it, and did node a lot of the map. The problem is that this easily put the map over the entity limit. In fact, it's almost at the entity limit at the moment, so noding just isn't an option sadly.

    The Content: Admittedly, yes this map does have a lot of custom content. If I remember correctly, at the time of creating the map, pakrat wasn't working. That or whatever I was using to pack files wasn't working. It's been a while since it was released. To be honest, I can't exactly remember the reason why the content isn't packed into the map. As for installation, not to sound like a dick, but this installation is incredibly easy. I don't understand how people that play Gmod, a game that is entirely based in downloadable content, can't understand how to read and follow instructions on installation.

    Toybox: When the map originally to be released, it was actually going to be put up on Toybox, but the problem with that is that not everything could be downloaded properly. If I remember the details, were I to put it up on Toybox, the soundscapes would not work.

    Continuation of the Map: It's not going to happen. I'm actually working on another map already, and to be completely honest, this map was constructed in a terrible manner. Unbeknownst to me during the mapping, much of the map had been placed off grid. On top of this, much of the map is incredibly goofy in the way it was constructed. A lot of it would require mass amounts of editing to fix properly, and it would honestly be easier for me to make the whole map over again than continue work on this one.

    Releasing the VMF: I'll think about it. While some people could mod the map to produce some good things here and there, I feel the negatives would most likely outweigh the positives by a large margin. People are going to end up ripping a ton of shit from the map without crediting, people will release pieces of trash that have my map as the center, and then there are people who will make a slight edit, and release the whole thing and claim ownership. It's a very painful hassle, and I'm honestly not sure if it's worth the trouble. But again, I'll think about it.
