I decided to go make the most efficient cacti mob trap in Minecraft ever, so I did. Here it is including the save file.

    Edited:
I messed up the math, it's more around 3500-4000 drops / hour.

No, I counted how many drops I got every second. It's not 100% accurate.

Then 8500 per hour isn't accurate at all.

Well, no wonder. Look at those 2 massive creature processing plants. I know a Mob Trap which had a similar design and got massive amounts of loot.

    Broke my automerge :argh:.

Thank you, I messed up. It varies how many drops go down the water canals, it's more around 3500-4000 drops / hour. Will fix the original post.

If I used lava and water bug I could 4x the efficiency, but I'll stick to cacti traps.

Then why did you call it 'most efficient' if you know yourself that it's not the most efficient?

It's a lot more efficient than mine, I just made a deep hole in the ground and hoped that a unwary animal would walk into it.

pretty much what I did except on mine I made a 4x4 2 deep pit in the ground, covered the bottom in torches, then dug 2x2 of the center to the bedrock.

    Edited:

but thats for pigs n shit of course.

Its hard to believe you made this whole thing w/o some type of mod.. as in, world edit. Not some type of mod that adjusts core gameplay.

Awesome as that may be, kinda sucks that it produces no string. With the advent of dispensers it's now somewhat acceptable to accumulate enough string to make them.
I'll have to do a video show-casing the Team Fortress 2 Simulator on New Ventlegille one of these days.

I wouldn't call this the most efficient trap, since it gives the mobs a lot of place to wander around before they actually fall, which means that it'll stop spawning mobs fast once you reach the spawn limit.
