Every time I put the .zip folder for my texture pack into the texturepacks folder, the icon in the Texture panel is grazy and nothing changes when I select it.

    Anybody know why this happens?

Now someone tell me how do all of these texture pack creators find this thread?
You know how the "view your posts" thing isn't working anymore... It tells you to use google, and so I did. Although I did it wrong (I guess) and I found some threads that have mentioned my pack. Facepunch just happened to be one of them.

I apologize if I was ever a bother. You're doing a fine job, Panthereye.

MC 1.4 adds nothing new to terrain.png, so you should be good with most texture packs.
Some you'll have to edit in cookies to the items.png, but that's not a hassel.

People who use HD packs, just wait for xau.

Ok, so I've made a texture pack and when I'm selecting it in the menu it's still the original in game, what am I doing wrong?

PM me the .zip file of your texture pack. I'll see what's wrong.

    Edited:

That shouldn't be a problem for texture packs that don't change the items.

Nvm, I got it to work. I had put a folder in the zip file that contained all the files, silly me.

Xau's Texture Pack patcher is updated, and now properly supports the texture pack selector, and now supports texture packs of all sizes (16x to 256x!) with one patch! Works with 1.4 beta too! No more separate patching for different packs! Yay!

Painterly pack is promising a big update with a ton more options for the customizer. Rhodox said he was waiting for the 1.4 update so he can release it in one go. It has me slightly excited.

I got to thinking, I could easily provide textures from Zelda OoT to be imported to Minecraft. I've done a fuckton of texture work on the N64, it wouldn't take long at all. Unless someone else has done this already.

I could do Mario 64 and other games, too of course. PM me if you want them.

Someone did Wind Waker but haven't seen OoT. I'd also like to see Majora's Mask textures too other than the moon obviously.

Any good programs to use for making a texture pack? PS is a little bit of a pain in the neck to use for making these for me.

    Edited:

I'm thinking of either making a RCT style texture pack or something like Dusty's Texture Pack.

I've decided to start my own Texture pack as I've never made one before and figured it could be good fun.

I started about 4 hours ago and I've only just got onto the second row of terrain.png.

This is going to take a while...

Ocarina of Time has been done.
So has Super Mario 64. Actually, the Super Mario 64 texture pack was my first pack I used back when the free weekend happened. (I liked the wood and grass.)

Also, I am really happy with this Painterly update. I especially like the new ore types, the vein style to be precise.

Indeed. I just don't like the textured 'realistic' smoothstone much. It looks more like cobble than smoothstone.

Does anyone have a texture packs that only change the hud, or, if it changes the blocks textures, it doesn't chage them dramatically?

Okay so, I'm trying to work on a texturepack myself. I'm not really going for any theme inparticular, but for now I'm just focusing on the terrain.png. How does this look, and do you gentlemen have any criticism for me for how I could improve various aspects of it?

The "snow" is green because of the biome tinting. The white sides of the blocks are supposed to be snow, but the sides of the grass don't comply with the biome coloring.

It looks pretty good so far, looks like it was inspired by lucid pack. It's a little noisy on the wool texture, but other than that it looks fine. I'd make the mossy cobblestone tile better, though...

If it's not the same as the current cobblestone, make it so but just fill in the darker lines green. I can't tell if it's like that or not, I haven't got my glasses on.

This is my texture pack, JazzPack. It was made from various textures and sprites from jazz jackrabbit 2 and the unreleased Jazz 3 test demo.

If you have a 32x pack that doesn't have a good wolf texture, I recommend using any of these, they're actually really well made.
