No school for me today! thanks to the snow.
No school for me today! Thanks to it being April 24th and exams having ended April 20th.
Edmonton, Alberta. Also Woohoo for PC Majority election! Fuck the wild rose!
No school for me today, as my last exam is scheduled for tomorrow.
This province is a shithole, literally everywhere you go there are muggers and and creepy homeless people around every corner.
Thought i'd post this in this thread as well
Basically, my best friends dad owns a mill in my town and there was a large explosion and fire the other night which injured 22 people and as of about an hour ago killed a second person from their extensive injuries. They recently finished expanding the mill and adding on a new "energy" sector to the mill which they were required to do and so far that is what the people in the explosion are saying could have caused it, but we won't know for sure until the investigation is done. About 200 people are out of jobs now, my friends dad lost one of his mills and most likely a lot of money, 2 people have died 5 more are in critical condition and others sustained injuries.
We were called about 5 minutes after the initial explosion and were down there within 15 minutes after it happened, by that time most of the mill had already been engulfed by flames. Was a horrible sight to see
Just some more information on the blast, from where we were standing which was about 200-300 meters from the building there was debris from the explosion. Workers were saying when they ran out they saw pieces of the mill thrown 400 meters away and flames shooting 40 meters high into the air. Windows were broken 5 blocks away and people felt the explosion from over 5km away.
75% increase on 5 years. It's bollock sir, more importantly it goes against our core values as Quebecers and it shows yet again how Québec differs in mentality from the ROC. Our fucking federalist PM can go suck a cock, he's so trying to break our will. (Charest our PM was a deputy for the federal PC before becoming a provincial Liberal) Fuck this neoliberal bullshit agenda trying to fuck every country up.
Hey, another Canadian reporting in!
From Kingston, Ontario
I have native status. I belong to the Mohawk Nation, Wolf Tribe.
at least here, every Canadian citizen pays the same tuition and it's higher for international students. I'm fairly certain it's that way in most of, if not all of, Canada besides Quebec.
Lol, Québec is such in a pile of shit right now. Student reporting in, I've been on strike since March 11th. Haven't been to school since. Nothing much to do, Teachers can't tell us to do homeworks because this is not school time. Of course, if the strike gets any longer, then I'm just going to lose my session and that will be a year of my life wasted.
I'm an Australian who went to Canada a couple months ago.
-Toronto was nice, for a big city. I had Tim Hortons coffee every day.
-Montreal was ok, lots of homeless people and drug addicts walking around the streets. I ate poutine, both the proper kind and the mcdonald's kind.
-Calgary was a nice change of pace and finally started seeing some cool scenery. Someone tipped a Tim Horton's French Vanilla Latte under the seats on the bus, soaking my backpack. It now permanently smells like a Tim Horton's French Vanilla Latte.
-Banff. Saw a Unicorn. I snowboarded almost every day and hooked up with a beautiful blonde Swiss girl. I fucking love Banff.
Canada verdict: awesome
Surprisingly, in the tiny village I live in, the ONLY store here (doubles as a small take-out and general store) makes proper poutine!
I am thankful for the people that own the store.
I know that McDonald's used to carry poutines (and mini pizzas) in like the early 2000's. I guess they never sold well.
Fuck snow just did all over Alberta
those pizzas were fantastic
I never had any of those pizzas
oh god the wind is going 50 km/h right now, this sucks
Get a kite. Fly it.
Also George St., I'm assuming St. John's Nfld? I love that place, I've been a couple times and honestly have never had so much fun.
It's snowing here. Cool.
I prefer St. John's to anywhere else that I've been in Canada but I guess I'm pretty biased since I live here. However, the music scene sucks here, I wish more bands would make the trip.
Poutine in every single damn restaurant here.
