Just a question to all Canadians in here: Which party would you vote for / do you vote for in elections?
Informative for Conservatives
Disagree for Liberals
Agree for Green Party
Winner for NDP
Optimistic for any other party

I would vote Liberal, but it's pretty much a lost cause due to last election, so I'd vote NDP.
We get snow at Easter, I am disappointed. Two weeks ago it was 27 out.
It melted like 3 times today, too

I rated winner but frankly I'd like to see what the Bloc Quebecois would do with a federal majority.
I wouldn't. We'd lose Quebec in four days, impose martial law and make French the only official language.![]()
Quite literally impossible, there are not enough seats in Quebec alone to get them even a minority government, and that's if Green were an actual competition, and BQ don't run (thank God) outside of Quebec because they know that the rest of the country hates the BQ with the white-hot intensity of a thousand suns. I'm glad they got absolutely demolished last election, and I sure as hell hope they fade even farther next election to the plane of absolute nonexistence.
Pretty much what was said above. You tell anyone you're voting for the Bloc Quebecois and it's like Oh.... eugh.
They nearly did succeed in a split too, it came down so close.
I have a question. Do you guys really like the monarchy, or is it acknowledged begrudgingly?
It's just kinda there. We have the Queen on our money and our ships have "Royal" in front of their names, but I don't know anyone who really gives a fuck.. Not like the Queen or the Governor-General has any actual power, thank God.
Some of us. A lot of the capital-L Liberals I know do support the monarchy, especially at the federal level. Otherwise, most French Canadians can't stand them (But do seem to like Will and Kate), a lot of Westerners think it's a giant waste of money (Maybe true), folks from the Atlantic provinces are indifferent, and Ontarians are split.
I like the monarchy, but only because it occasionally reminds me of my heritage. Canada is quickly turning into a multi-ethnic country of tens of millions, and I'm fine with that, but for people of British origin it seems sometimes like everything we used to attach ourselves to in public life is being dismantled. So... it's kind of nice to have the monarchy around. It's not like it's hurting anyone.
Some old lady and her family a half a world away have no business in the politics here, even if it is just as a formality. That's my view.
I think Michaelle Jean is cool, and did a decent job as GG.
That's about my extent of caring about the Royal head of state.
Aww I feel bad for you guys.
But,.. he... he doesn't.. he's not in a... he done resurrected

Michaelle Jean is a pretty cool guy, eh eats seal hearts and doesn't afraid of anything.
Nova Scotia?
Ok, I figured as much. :(
Mon pere est anglais, so I'm a little biased I guess. I do have well wishes for you, my northern neighbours and maye one day I can join you all.
Question, How many of us can really speak both official languages?
I am a native English speaker
and I can speak competent french
j'ai besoin de manger un canard s'il vous plais

I'm moving from Australia to BC in a few months, and I was wondering if there is anything I should know about Canada?
It's cold, and the use of the word eh excessively is frowned upon
J'ai ne comprehend pas
Il demenage au canada, et il veut sais les chose apropos de nous
Thought so. Apart from that are there any major differences culturally and socially?
Really, No. From what I've heard, Australia is very close to Canada culturally and socially
Alright, thanks
I live in Alberta and oh fuck if the Wildrose party gets elected in I will be even more ashamed to be here. It sucks that the only two groups that can possibly be elected are right wing and even farther right wing. I am voting Liberal since I can always hope that things will change at some point, but it is just so frustrating that my vote will count for shit in any election in Canada.
I know next to nothing about the Wildrose Party, besides getting the weird vibe that it's like the polar opposite of the Parti Quebecois or something
also this

Do you like rain and overcast skies? We get a lot of both.
Anyone else live in Northern BC or am I all alone in this mountainy wilderness?
Edited:
Depending on where you're living in BC (Most likely Vancouver area so you won't have to deal with this), the roads are shit, there are lots of wild animals that tend to wander onto roads and into yards, 80% of the time the winters will be a shit ton of snow with 2-3 weeks of -40C weather, otherwise -15 to -20c weather during winter. people are nice and considerate and if you have an accent they seem to love you even more
What's the summer like?
Well from my experience in northern BC, it's pretty mild. This year so far it actually seems like it's going to be nice as fuck and the snow is melting pretty damn fast, it's already about 15 degrees out and completely blue skies which we usually don't see until early may. Summers up here probably last from mid to late may until late august, mostly about 15C to 25C in those few months. I'd say about 60-70% of the time it's cloudy, and 30-40% of the time it's nice and blue skies. There might be like 3 weeks total of rain throughout the whole summer and maybe a week where the temperature reaches high 20s, maybe even low 30s but that's really rare and most people would be dead if that happened

just stay away from prince george. I live north of there now, but i'll just say it's been rated the most dangerous city in canada 2 years in a row for a reason
Summer sounds great. Chances are I'm moving to Kelowna, is that a good place?
Kelowna is definitely one of the best places in BC to live. It's also one of the hottest, if not the hottest. A few years ago it was hitting close to 40C down there and they had to evacuate parts of the city because of forest fires due to the heat and the pine beetle infestation. Penticton is also a nice place to live, it's a bit of a smaller city but it's just as nice
I was born in Kelowna! Lived there for only five years though, but the winters have little to hardly any snow really, but a good amount to have fun with. The summers are gorgeous, and bugs aren't even that prevalent. If you like hiking, the Okanagan is majestic. Trails everywhere that you can go on.
Just to know if there are some bilingual/trilingual here.
Agree if you only speak English.
Disagree if you speak both official languages (French and English).
Informative if you are bilingual but don't speak French.
Tool if you are trilingual.
I speak English, a little bit of French, and even less Gaelic (Cape Breton woo). Does that count as trilingual?![]()
