What do you guys think of the UI? I think it looks good, Very simple but amazing. Although I have a milestone now. Sometimes I just wish I have a WP7. I wish both of the features could be together. Sigh.
I like it because it's different. iOS is boring and looks the same as it did in 2007, stock Android is the same, though with things like HTC sense and such almost make up for it, Symbian, I find, has actually changed more than iOS and Android, but it still looks halfway boring. But WP7 brings something new to the market.

Wow, you guys seen the new advert? It's really clever.
Some woman is using her Window phone to search for stuff and when she presses the bing result it launches a normal advert, eg she searched for a perfume then that advert followed. It does it for 4 things in a row each linked with the phone.

To be honest, I've never met a rational Mac user. So I don't know about that 0.001% figure of yours.
Normal Mac users just don't talk about it unless you ask them.

On topic: does anyone know when are those things coming to Russia? Really want to try one.

Thing is the WP7 interface is a bit more dynamic. iOS home screen was boring the month it came out, but the WP7 home screen with the live tiles is not only good looking but also endlessly more functional than anything iOS lets you do with the homescreen.

I like the interface, it's different and efficient. I'm just too attached to having a homescreen like android and having a desktop.

To be honest, I'm pretty bored of the same old grid of useless icons. It's one of the reasons I got rid of my iPhone 4 for a Focus. The Android home screen is even worse with the exception of some widgets you can add on there, but it's still generally the same grid of useless icons.

WP7 is probably the most unique of them. No copycats yet.

And yes, I'm slowly turning into a WP7 fanboy. Damn it.

Probably, but then iOS is six years old, and if I know Apple, they won't have changed it much.
If you missed, that means that it's double as boring. Just look at OSX, haven't changed one bit (almost), whereas Windows (okay, the versions before XP was fucking ugly), have changed alot, even though it looked almost the same through the '90s.

In case anyone missed it, official figures:

    1.5 Million WP7 devices shipped.

I know this is 1.5 million shipped not sold, however if they have been selling out like they have been here in the UK then the real sold number cant be far off that.

In 3 years when WP8 is released... or has been released for a year, the UI will most likely be different.

I would love to see this UI on a tablet, it would look great. I just don't think windows 7 itself will kick off as a tablet OS unless they give it a tablet friendly facelift and intel cpus aren't as efficient as ARM. I suppose they could just use windows embedded. I hope they consider it for tablets.

I got my HTC HD7 yesterday. It's really nice, but i'm starting to have second thoughts.

No flash = no iplayer currently.

I cannot connect to my wifi if my SSID is hidden, sigh.

I love how it intergrates my facebook contacts into my phone, but i didn't like how it sucked all the contacts from my Windows live account.

The biggest dislike for me currently is the lack of iplayer and wifi problem. I'm starting to wonder if i should take it back for something else... Iphone4? (gasp).

Flash is coming early 2011, so it's not long to wait. You can also tell it not to sync with your Live account if you wish.

You're not earning anything at all by switching to an iPhone 4 instead of being patient...

Different resolution, different screen content, and different wallpaper. Nice.

It's the same thing minus a few minor graphical changes, like the removal of the lined bullshit, making everything grey, and making the dock more shiny. Look at XP > 7.

Different wallpaper, a few graphical changes, and a change in taskbar. New icons, generally different color scheme. Same as OS X. Nice.

I'm going to keep my HD7 I think. I can probably live with the problem with not connecting to hidden SSID wifi networks. If flash is confirmed for early 2011 thats good stuff :). The rest of it seems really fun :). Now just need to wait for o2 to finish transfering my number from tmobile :P.

Ok, after like 2 months with my Omnia here are my findings.

    Lovely and fluid. Snappy.
Loading is atrocious. To do anything you have to wait for it to load and it takes an absolute fucking age.
Sometimes I find myself accidently hitting the soft keys at the bottom, quitting what I was doing and opening bing.
    Camera is pretty shite.
Call speaker (non speakerphone) volume is really low. Speakerphone reasonable.
Apps are terrible, there are not many decent ones, and the good ones are all rip off prices.

Yeah there are a few bad points, hopefully they will be patched later on..

The app development got off to a bad start, but I am sure those loading times will shorten soon enough. Android apps started out pretty shite as well, and now they are awesome.

Yeah, the apps on WP7 so far are pretty lacking. The OS itself is fucking magic but apps do matter so I hope that they start getting better soon.

Anyway, seems the Focus is better than the Omnia after all, Funny, because the camera on this is excellent and the call speaker goes uber high. But yeah the soft keys are bitches sometimes.

Wow then you obviously haven't tried loading an app on one of the HTC WP7's, they take over twice as long to load things than the Omnia with its flash memory.

Sometimes I find myself accidently hitting the soft keys at the bottom, quitting what I was doing and opening bing.
All you have to do if you accidentally hit one of the buttons is hold your finger on it for around 2 seconds and it wont activate, it only activates if you tap the button.

    1. The loading time on my HTC 7 Mozart is just fine, I don't know what you're talking about.

    2. It's always too late to notice that you touched the bing softkey to hold it down for 2seconds.

Google it, HTC use a standard SD card as the internal memory, the Samsung Omnia uses 32nm NAND memory, there's a few videos around and its a pretty well established fact that the Omnia is at least twice as fast at loading.

    Edited:

HERE is one of those videos.

    Love:
    The lockscreen
General fluidness and how everything's smooth & snappy

    Hate:
    Lack of apps
Marketplace's requirement for parental permission if you're under 18
    Loading problems

You can't hate "Lack of Apps", as that really has nothing to do with the OS itself. It's not that old yet, and apps are coming in large numbers.

Windows Phone 7 has as many apps as WebOs. WebOs launched in June 2009. WP7 did in November 2010. Give Microsoft some credit here, their market is growing super quickly.

Does that mean we also judge the iPhone based on all the terrible shovelware clogging up the App Store?

Apps are definitely a feature worth considering with a phone, but they're not directly connected to the quality of the actual phone OS.

Unfortunately, pretty much 99% of the WP7 apps currently are fucking crap. I've seen 500 dollar "I'm Rich" apps, queef sound apps (seriously,) apps that just display a picture of shit on a trophy, and apps that give you accelerometer graphs. Seems like Microsoft is really, really loose on quality assurance. Seriously hope they start being a bit more strict. Quality over quantity, after all.
