Do whatever you think is right, but if you want my advice, go with Finley build, which is better than mine.

    Edited:

And no the case hasn't got a CD Drive, but Finley put an optical drive on your future build.
    Okay, 5 questions/concerns:
    1. Do you think the fans will be loud? Because I really want to avoid that
    2. Is an optical drive the same as a CD drive/ close enough to play music CDs, DVDs, game download disks etc?
    3. I can get a free card reader with one of the products, is that just something extra or is that something Finley has in the build?
    4. When it says GPU (x2) does Finley mean to buy two of them, or it comes with two?
    5. Should I build it with my dad as a project or not screw up on something so important and bring it into a computer shop for them to build it? (I already have a halloween deadmau5 head project with him so it's not like it's my only time to work with him)
    Thanks for the answers!

Ah. Could you possibly help me with the rest of the questions I had?

    Edited:

Also I realized the build will cost more like 1700, due to tax and shipping.

    1. Depends on your definition of loud.

    2. Optical drive is a generic term for disk drive. By optical drive he probably means a DVD/CD burner.

    3. Probably a USB extra. Could be a PCIe attachment, I don't know if those exist, though.

    4. Buy 2.

    5. Depends on how much your dad knows about computers. If he has done it before, or has an intuitive knack for following instructions, sure.

    1. My computer is a bit louder than this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LbFRyp-1TtM and it's fine.
    2. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827135204 That's the optical drive.
    3. Yeah your right it was a USB extra.
    4. Thanks
    5. He brought his computers into a shop to be custom built, so I guess I'll have someone else do it.

That optical drive is a fine choice. Your new case shouldn't be too loud, too.

Sweet, hopefully I can post a shopping cart list:
    http://secure.newegg.com/Shopping/ShoppingCart.aspx
Should I finalize that order? (it's finley's build without an SSD and the case is a bit different as the front and side have blue LEDS instead of no blue LEDS and the side is clear for you to see the internals)

    Place to build it?

As in, stay the fuck away from carpets to avoid static charge from your feet?

Seriously though, DO NOT rub your feet on the carpet(with socks) and touch the metal/lead part of the components. If it gets static charge, its dead.
Some people say, to avoid static charge, always make sure your other hand is holding/touching either the case or PSU.

Build it yourself, don't pay someone to do it for you.

It really couldn't be easier, and it's a rewarding experience.

I know you guys say it's easy, but to be quite honest I've never done it and my dad's never done it, and we really dont want to screw anything up. Like, I didn't know the tip unwantedfag gave me.

It's really not that hard. As long as you can follow instructions, anyways. It's a lot like legos, except they're very expensive and only fit in one way. You shouldn't ever have to force something in. If something isn't going in easily, take a look at the instruction manual again and make sure you aren't doing it wrong.

    Also, don't forget standoffs.

Your dad is an idiot, do it yourself. Standoffs are little brass colored screw posts. They screw into holes on the case and then the motherboard screws go in those. It's so you don't damage the motherboard's parts that protrude below it.

Dude, first of all thats kinda dicky to call my dad an idiot considering this is my birthday/barmitzvah/hannukah present so he's spending the money, it's his choice and I can't do anything about it. He wont order it unless someone builds it, I can't change it. Now, going back to my main topic: The build Finley has is fine, and has no flaws when the parts are used with eachother correct? I don't want to order something just for it to not work correctly.

When are you going to buy this? It's been taking so long we already have a new generation of GPUs out. We'll have 6970s and 6950s in November, and GTX 580s, GTX 560s, and 6990s in December.

    Edited:

And yeah, your dad is an idiot.

Your dad is an idiot for spending money he does not need to. Dammit, Barmitzvahs are about becoming a man. Real men don't pay other people to put together their Legos! Why would they pay someone to build their computer?

Tempting dude...tempting. Also, I can't do anything about it. I mean, he can spend his money on what he wants even if he's spending more than what he should be paying. Also fablubii should I just wait until novermber before I order? I was hoping to do it this month, but I just realized that it ends in a couple of days, so I guess I could wait it out.

My bro has an alienware and it's worked fine for him (hes not a gamer like me) so he thought it would be fine for me. ALSO I CANT PURCHASE THE PARTS IF WE DONT HAVE SOMEONE BUILD IT AND I CANT CHANGE IT! Seriously, when I say I cant change it I mean it. Theres nothing I can do about it.

The new 6870/6850's are pretty slick, think about one of those.. They aren't too expensive either. Also, in my opinion your father isn't an idiot, he just want it to work without too much hassle.

You don't need an SSD for a first time build, and don't BUY a firewall/anti virus. you'll be fine with AVG free and Malware Bytes. Head over to www.overclock.net and PM me when you get there, username is teajayyy. I can help you out, that forum is really where you want to go when it comes to PC building. friendly community, very helpful, and 0.01% of the population is a troll. Personally i wouldn't trust facepunch with what my PC build would be.

edit: i would throw a cart together but im in class right now

Why would you come here to recommend another forum? You've already proved you're incompetence by suggesting one of the worse free anti viruses to him (AVG). I very much doubt you could make a better build than I did for the money

Sorry dude but I'm going to stick with Finley's build. I love the FP community, and people like Finley, ADT etc are obviously not stupid about these kinds of things, and people know what their talking about. No offense dude but your pretty much trolling this forum, and people who shit talk other forums ON that forum is not going to get my respect.
