Seeing as it wasn't getting much attention in the original thread, I figured I may as well make a thread for the video. Here is the recording and commentary of how I edited my latest picture.

(If you don't think this deserved a thread, blame ttam6297. He said it would be a good idea :saddowns:)

I hope some of you will find this helpful. I intend to do some more recordings of my edits and let you guys know some of the techniques I use.

Yea, I'm sorry. I was gonna but then I got paranoid about the time limit.

How's this? I think I got it down a bit.
    Whoa. That is absolutely excellent.

    And you drew that?

Glow could use a bit of work though. Try to make the glow a different color than the thing it is emanating from. So something yellow would create a more orange or red glow.

Nice Video Vman. Kinda got lost when the video skipped but you described most of what I saw in quite vivid detail.
Yea, like I said, I'm really sorry about the skipping. It won't happen next time, I promise.

Very helpful Vman, but do you realize that now you can upload a video up to 15min?
Yea, I remembered that long after I uploaded it.

    GIMP
    I think.
    That's correct.

I have used photoshop before, not extensively. I mostly just use Gimp because it's free. Also, from what I hear Photoshop doesn't have a color to alpha tool, and I don't think I would be able to function without color to alpha.

I'm thinking of trying Gimp, some reasons are because it's free, and perhaps won't completely fuck up my computer like my photoshop does. You recommend it?

it kinda sucks that most of the editing is skipped....
you should have make your video in parts, instead of 1 big video with most of the stuff skipped
but yeah,i guess it would have be taking too long

Yea, I'd recommend it. The layout is a little confusing at first, but you get used to it.

If I understand correctly, what it does, you could probably just click the channels tab, and ctrl+click on the rgb composite to get the colour selection which you cna then transfer into the alpha.

Admittedly I'd need a bit more info on what colour to alpha does.

It just takes a color you have selected and erases all trace of it from your picture. So if you colored black to alpha on something that's gray, it would turn white.

You select a color and it becomes alpha.
