Looks great, really smooth picture. I like the brown best.

But the colors are so pretty
Brown is a color :)
Clearly you've never held one with an aluminium frame. They're unbelievably light.
No kidding.
Still though, reliability is always a plus.
I know that, but it's way over-exaggerated.
Well shit you got me there
e/ strike that, misread

you also forgot about Force Recon, all Marine Division Recon battalions, US Army Rangers and Special Forces, Air Force Base Security SWAT teams, Coast Guard DOG, and Border Patrol. Also, the majority of superior officers nowadays (Majors, Colonels, Generals, Commanders, etc) have the 1911 as a preferred sidearm.
The 1911 has been phased out in most standard infantry units, police units, and gang-bangers.
Edited:
oh shit, I also forgot about US Army infantry recon, and quite a few foreign armies use 1911's as their sidearms as well.
The 1911 isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
When you want a reliable weapon for breaching/clearing, you can't argue with .45 ACP. 9x19 is great for target practice and conventional law enforcement due to magazine capacity and accuracy, but if you're breaching a door, you don't have time to put three extra rounds into someone to make sure they stay down.
In my experience, 1911's are mighty fine weapons. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. My only gripe is that the Kimber SUPERLEETPROCARRYULTRA abominations spawned by the 1911 family. They are hideous beyond compare. Personally, I carry a G17 due to weight and magazine capacity, and because I'm not usually clearing rooms everyday. 9x19 JHP's will put any schmoe down no problem.
Anyway, it's a nice picture, albeit a bit boring. If it wasn't a fancy model in the middle (a CS model for example), there probably wouldn't be much to look at.
Hey, the springfield ultra compact is a really sexy gun. But those tiny kimbers feel weird, they just don't give me the "extra dick" feeling when I hold one.
I personally carry a smith and wesson model 629 Performance Center with an 7.5in barrel on an customized shoulder holster. Then I carry a Sig Sauer p226 chambered for .40 in a waistband holster.
Since I do bodyguard work, the .40 and the 44 magnum are suitable cartridges for putting down a threat in minimal amount of time.
I just carry in a Miami-Classic Galco, nothing too fancy. My buddy swears by 357 SIG but I'm not that impressed. Also the carry laws in my area are really lenient, so it doesn't even really have to be concealed. This makes a full-frame pistol much easier to carry.
Compacts :smith:
I had no idea there were so many hardcore people here.
I heard the the US military uses a shitty coating on their M9 magazines (the coating being both on the inside and outside when it's supposed to only be on the outside) which causes feeding issues. In fact I hear that the military M9 just plain sucks more than the civillian 92fs
Real life ain't a fucking video game.
A shot to the central nervous system and heart from a 9x19 will put you down just about as quick as a .45 or even a 5.56.
.45 ACP isn't some mega powerful round that puts .50 BMG to shame, and 9x19 isn't a god damn BB gun. .45 ACP is just a heavier projectile going at a typical pistol velocity. The difference between the two is marginal, especially with modern JHPs.
Besides, if you're going to be doing war fighting, you're going to bring something more than a pistol with you. Pistols are pistols, and Rifles are rifles.
The standard issued STANAG mags suck dicks too. That's why soldiers use Magpul Pmags all the time.
Anyway, this is getting excessive. It would be best to take this discussion to the firearms thread in GD.
but gd is even more like gbs than this place
*runs back to tfr where he knows he is safe*
Don't get me wrong, 9x19 actually has the highest percent chance of causing hydrostatic shock which can kill someone instantly without hitting any vital organs. .45 ACP FMJ over-penetrates soft targets (usually) thus not exerting all of it's energy, which is a bad thing.
Also any bullet to the heart or brain will put someone down, but that's assuming you get a perfect shot with every single bullet. Think about when adrenaline is going, if a round lacks sufficient stopping power, it's not going to put someone down. Think of that story a few years ago of a U.S. marine taking 11 shots all over the body (not just the body armor), and he was still standing and shooting back.
I'm saying, when you have five seconds to clear the room (5 seconds is the actual room allowance), you don't have time to double check your targets to make sure they're down.
Just go down to the range with some watermelons or ballistic gel (if you feel like making it) and be your own judge. I find the best results come from 12 gauge sabot hollow point.
-Insert buncha fuckin gun gibberish here-
