Oh, that wasn't pointed towards you, on the contrary. That was a general criticism 'bout FP's habits.
but you have to realize most of facepunch are just teens incapable of producing something actually worthwhile by being original thus they use the props and models given to them (obviously consisting of 90% guns, combat-oriented characters, etc) in a setting suited for those characters which is gunposing
now, let's go back to what i said: they're teens incapable of producing something actually worthwhile. what's that mean? well, sure, they can slap on their ow nuzzleflashes and explosions etc. but that's not really worthwhile when it looks bad. ingame effects are just as effective and more often than not look far superior to any editing solely because it's actually THERE and you don't have to worry about nailing perception correctly which seems to be the #1 flaw of all users' editing
ingame effects dominate all editing, period. why create artificial rimlighting when you can just create a phong mask? why bother shopping in a muzzleflash or explosion when all you have to do is make your own textures and apply them ingame? why do you have to use a greenscreen that leaves really nasty artifacts around the characters even when removed when you could just use a matte white background prop and turn the character in to matte black and use it as an alpha layer? why don't they think of these things?
they're not creative enough.
