Not my best, but then it would be dull if I always was. Apologies for the dark picture but, as you can see from the comparison posted below, it already has been brightened in the necessary places quite a lot and anymore would result in a lot of colour artifacts (I say a lot, but what I mean is more than the bunch that are already making this picture look horrible).

    Comparison

C&C and what have you, but please spare my poor soul by not talking too much about the nasty artifacts.

Edit: This works pretty good as a background if you can be bothered to flip it.

Looks nice, but I'm not sure why you called them Guardsmen. Guardsmen don't have anything like a humvee. Motorized patrol would probably be sentinels.

The darkness is good, it adds a nice atmosphere to the picture whereas the other way around it wouldn't be quite so sexy

Gracias for the positive comment and, well, there are a number of reasons:

    1. I needed a sci-fi soldier, but I didn't want to use the usual Halo 3/MW2 combination because I've overdone it. These Crysis soldiers turned Guardsmen I made catch the light of lamps incredibly well, so they were suitable for the picture.

    2. A jeep works for the camera angle, has good headlights for the picture and looks cool.

    3. How do we know the guardsmen don't have jeeps? It's perfectly logical that they would do - they would be very useful for certain tasks. Regardless, this can be classified as fan-fiction so I can use my artistic license.

Cheers. Yeah the grass is a shame but I couldn't use the other nicer grass effects because the green ones are fullbright and the others go fullbright if a lamp catches them even a tiny bit. Oh well.

They do have jeeps, the Elysians use the Tauros, no reason why other regiments can't.

    Thanks, mate.

Yeah I had to make it a tad blurry. I don't usually like to do that. I enjoy nice sharp characters and depth-of-field. It's because the grass was really ugly and sharp, the phong on the characters was too sharp and the brightening and headlights had created a bunch of artifacts that needed to be masked at least a little. Apologies for the out-of-character bluriness.

    Thanks a lot!

For the headlights, just some paint tool and gaussian blur really. Big white spots for the lights, then pretty much just follow the muzzleflash part of my tutorial after that, but with less colour.

Yeah, some of the mods really go on power-trips, whether due to personal vendetta, or boredom, we can never know. Seems the screenshots section is over-moderated, and the modeling/mapping/lua sections are under-moderated.

The light is good, although the light on his body is very off, considering the light source is way behind him, and not to his front left..
There would really be a small rim, and little to no light on his facial features...
There would be no light on his right arm, since it would be covered in shadow.

The editing is very constant though, leaving a polished look, and the light from the headlights looks rather good ^^

Excelente, mi amigo. The guy catches the light very well, almost to the point where he looks like a real person. Very atmospheric picture, excellent editing. The only thing that bothers me is the grass. It looks a little blocky. The guy's hand also looks a little morphed, but that may just be me.

Thanks so much for all the comments! When I saw "11 new" I thought there was going to be a war going on here, but I am very pleased to find otherwise.

The light is good, although the light on his body is very off, considering the light source is way behind him, and not to his front left.
I understand your point, but everyone seems to be forgetting the moon in all this and also that thing called 'artistic licence'.

The strong rim-lighting created by the phong is from the headlights, the rest is from another lamp placed off-screen, much darker and bluer, acting as the moon. "But why is it so strong on the guy?" I hear you ask. That's why I mentioned artistic license - if the whole picture was equally dark, or if the whole picture was brightened more, then there would be very little focus, especially considering there isn't much depth-of-field either. Think of a night-scene in an action film or war movie or whatever; quite often the main character is really brightly lit and everything else very dark. You don't notice it though because your mind says "this scene is dark and blue so therefore it is night" and you are simply happy you can see the character and what is going on. The same concept applies here, although the lighting contrast is not quite so prominent.

Yeah I saw. I don't think they would fit with these models very well though, so I shall continue using BF2142 stuff for the time being. I don't really see the need to use a lasgun that looks exactly like the tabletop weapon because... it's a weapon designed for a model a couple of centimetres so it really lacks detail, in comparison to these Crysis models.. I never decided to do these reskins as a perfect replication of WH40K's Imperial Guard, but rather as my interpretation of them as a more realistic sci-fi force.
