This is what people should do ^^
Also, for us less known dudes, a comment when you pop by wouldn't damage ^^
Oh yeah, I don't really have many comments, and I've been making pictures since 2006 :V

I was asked how I know what is done in the pictures, and how I feel qualified to give criticism. I used a phrase I like. There is no such thing as an educated artist. Nor an educated critic.

So to the new ones. Don't think that your opinions will be ridiculed. I know some take that view.

Yeah, everyone can point out what is bad about the picture.
    Common sense ;)

But i think there can be "educated" and "un-educated" artist.

I beg to differ. You see in the "established" art community you will find critics who both praise and slaughter the same art work. A few critics can declare that and that artist a genius while others don't get what the artist is trying to do or tell. Hell sometimes even the artist don't know it (They need a real job).

No educated carpenters would disagree on how to build a house. Not would they argue over a house that is build right. There is a wrong and a right way to do it. That simple. This is not the case with art. It is all in the eye of the beholder.

    GoldenBullet's Tutorial here
I didn't think it was that boring at all. Adding in a little humor (for instance, the part at the beginning of the second half of the comic) helped the impression.

While I'm deeply jealous that you get more replies than I do for seemingly no reason, I won't hold it against you for this threat, at least...hehe.

Let's see more of these threads.

Of course there is such a thing as an educated critic/artist. Why do you think there are art schools (surprisingly, they aren't just there to have you draw naked people)

An educated critic/artist will know what makes a good picture and what makes a bad picture. They will understand many artistic rules (believe it or not, there are a LOT) and they will be able to pinpoint what exactly needs improvement, could be changed, or stands out in the picture. People's opinions on things may differ because they have different levels of education. Take, for example, the movie Inglourious Basterds (typical me) A lot of people hated it because they thought it was too boring and drawn out, but almost every professional movie critic (or anybody who actually has taste in movies) saw that it was incredibly well written, and had incredibly gripping suspense. Would you honestly say that the people who hated it are as educated as the people who loved it?

For another example, look at this section. You will see people come in and make a terrible picture, but think that it is good. They are obviously uneducated in art. Same goes for the people who come in and praise the terrible picture.

Point is, if you don't think that there is such a thing as an educated artist, you may be one of the uneducated ones...

My old teacher had a phrase she used. See if I can remember it. "Free expression of thought and mind through art. No rules. No boundaries". She was pretty much opposed to grade the artwork of students in general (she had to of course). I suppose that attitude rubbed off on me to a certain degree. But I see your point.

    And I liked Inglourious Basterds.

    I have a question.

How can words that you write effect your editing and artistic zone?

I mean all your doing is observation. Looking straight into a picture and looking for the mistakes and telling him he should have done something different which is your opinion towards the picture. I mean if you really want that magic touch like overall good editors on here get. You don't work forward to it. You be it. Feel it. Touch it. Bring it to you closer. Grab it by the balls and pull it straight down to the ground. Really what you should do is look at your picture and notice how fucking ugly it is and make it the way artistic people would consider it good. I mean if you go and put a few filters on your picture and consider it as art and post it. What are you thinking?

Are you insinuating something about me here? Just inquiring because you keep accusing me of demanding perfection in another thread. Well, just in case you are, I have shared greatly with this community and the evidence in that is in the stickied thread.

My friend was looking over my shoulders as I browsed some threads. He chuckled and said!
"This forum is not served with condescending twats who do their best to make newbies feel like losers". (Best translation from Norwegian)

True words, but in all fairness, some newbies can be the biggest twats. Mostly out of stupidity or under the misconception that it is cool to be an asshole. Regular users here don't have that excuse.

Well in other words this forums doesn't force you to post as nice as he demands. Nor give CC as this man demands.

You are allowed to say "Lighting is bad, needs more -insert-" Or anything that makes you come up with a thread that's titled "Boring tutorial on productive replies" It's just we don't imply that you should be the biggest asshole ever, But don't get me wrong, You can be the biggest asshole. It doesn't matter.
