Radeon 5970 is much better than Nvidia 480 or 470, and if you really want PhysX, you can buy a 5970 and a little GeForce 9800GT with. Yes, Nvidia had diseable PhysX for anyone who have an ATI card, but there is a mod for to download.

Why spending so much on a processor ? If you want Intel, the i7 860 (or i7 920-930, they are exactly the same but only if you want a socket 1366) is okay. AMD is great too for gaming PC, with Phenom II X4 965.

For the OS, take Windows Seven Familial Edition 64bits OEM, Ultimate and Pro are useless for you.

More and more 3d apps start using cuda, and the new nvidia series are like consumer workstation cards, so if you do 3d, that's what you get, a nvidia.

Too bad the renderer I use works on CUDA only. And so do quite some other stuff that were meant to be used in studios where people don't use ati

my budget can be 0 to 3000 $, but the lower it is the better, since I'm not so rich. And if I can get a decent rig that can run every game with good performance, I'll be happy. Just buy a i5-750 and OC to 4.0ghz
