That's an interesting interpretation of the picture. In my head the wife died of radiation poisoning or perhaps a disease brought about by the lack of clean water like typhoid and the husband has hung himself as he feels he has nothing to live for. Then again, one could easily interpret this picture as a man and his friend, not necessarily a married couple.
