Well after a quick read of that post, they used a custom shuttle addon to make them fly.

If you want something to fly like a plane, that's easy as long as the mass distribution throughout the contraption is quite even. Just make some thrusters on the back that send it forward in a reasonably straight line, then add thrusters on the sides and stuff to make it pitch and roll.
And stop bashing hoverballs, and saying only noobs use them. They're not the sort of thing you want to use if you're making a plane, but they're good if you just want something to stay in the sky, be mobile, and you don't want to muck about with complicated Wire methods when that's not the point of the contraption.
If you bash hoverballs, you'll also have to bash gyropod and the shuttle sent. Because their purpose is the same, To simplify the process of making shit fly.
Use thrusters or applyForce, Or hoverballs, adv gyropod or the shuttle sent.
Don't. Most servers don't have it. The gyropod is a bit more popular but really, Stick to using as less addons as possible.
Phx3 and wiremod should cover it since almost all servers have it.
If you want your contraption to get better reviews, don't take any shortcuts. But seriously, Nobody will ever bash you for having hoverballs or whatever if you only make it look and fly good.

i know there are other ways to make things fly, but i suck with wire, i dont like hoverballs unless im building a space station, and no i didnt join today, my favourite way of makign theings fly is using fin, but im trying to make a spaceship, not a plane, il try out the gyropod

If you want to do a simple ship, try the shuttle entity.

Avoid the use of hoverballs, they will be rejected and flamed. Adv Gyropod probably will too, (though ive had a blast with it and spacebuild) Applyforce will be flamed by some. Thrusters by no one, provided there is good wire behind them

applyForce and thrusters is the same thing.
If you want the best functionality learn how to use applyForce properly. You'll find uses for it on everything.
WHAT!?!?!? How could anyone flame Adv. Gpod!? It's the savior of spacebuild from the scourge of hoverballs and smartconstraint! Please, dear God, tell me you are joking!! This is not a shit/joke post, I am dead serious. Advanced gyropod is A: not overly easy to make work right(keeps total noobs off of it) and B:useful and more stable than hoverballs and e2 combined.
im having probelms with adv gyropod, i made a simple test by welding it to a seat and hooking it up, i aim up and it doesnt pitch til a certain point and then it just goes really fuckign fast, it always ends up spinning out of control and then i lose it O_O any tips?
1. It's a shortcut, just like hoverballs, to get stuff to fly.
2. It can't do all the things that e2 does and you won't have full control of everything.
3. I think it's cool when somebody hit's you with a well placed rocket, blowing one of your engines off, making it harder to steer. With this, it's all or nothing.
But i don't think people will flame you for using it.
You could use a thruster control differential thingy. By which I mean use the rate of change of error to control movement, if that makes any sense, which I doubt it does. Delta control anyway. Set it up with Z axis and a vector thrust or two, there, good as new.

Anyways, I used to use adv. gyropod all the time. Then Garry had the great idea to edit base_entities and RUIN. MY. FUN. I still use it often though. /tangent But seriously, your stuff didn't have zero gravity, the gyropod was applying force to the props to keep it in the same spot.

Oh I remember now, I think. no, wait, no I don't. I think it is further damage done by Garry. Because spawned ones are spawned with no gravity on them now. This update is really starting to piss me off. Woohoo we can go faster! and all we had to sacrifice was adv. duping thrusters, wire lights, gyropods, and a lot more. Thanks a fucking lot, Garry!
