allright, so...first time builing a computer, did a lot of reasearch and decided to build one and this is what i came up with:

    http://secure.newegg.com/Shopping/Sh...px?Submit=view

cpu: AMD phenom II X3 720 BE (reviews said it was pretty good, and it fits my budget, but 550 X2 look good too)
    mobo: GIGABYTE GA-MA770T-UD3P AM3 AMD 770
ram: crucial 2X4 GB (1333 Mghz)
hard drive: 320 gb 7200rpm (dont need much)
OS: Windows 7 pro (dont know the difference between ultimate/pro/basic)
    Monitor: 1080p 21.5"
Heatsink: ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 7 Pro (heard heatsinks that came w/cpu's are shit)
Tower: NOT TO SURE. Looks good, but idk im not that "educated" when it comes to towers.
No GPU, dont know what to get
Live in the USA, Gonna use this mainly for source gaming and borderlands. help would be appreiciated!

I really like the i5 build, but i have some questions about pcs. Allright, so whats the difference between ATX and micro ATX? My friend said to invest my money in an ATX because there better for gaming (?) idk. Also, whats the difference between the Phenom and Anthlon, i noticed the Athnlon II X4 had no L3 cache (also some reviews pointed this out) but how does this effect my gaming performance? also, umm, i still need to get an OS i didnt notice that in the builds...rate me dumb but i would really like to know what kind of specs and such im looking for/at (sorry for the noob post!)

Athlon is a cheap Phenom, it's not as good.
mATX is the same as ATX, but everything is smaller

    Edited:

    and cheaper

Ha. alright, thanks, sooo instead of an anthlon X4 do you think i should save some more money up for a phenom II X4, cuz i like anikilol's build a lot but i was wondering if mayyybe the X2 550 BE would be better for gaming (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103680)
or maybe the X3 720 BE (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103649). id also like to try a BE because id like to overclock the cpu at a point. i dont know what would be the best way to go?

Phenom II X2 550 Black Edition, it's actually a quad-core. You just have to unlock the two others. And it overclocks stable to 3.8GHz on air.

    Look up, you've got 1.5tb hdd's 5770's and i5's.
How did you manage to get something with a phenom dual-core for the same price?

also, that dvd drive doesn't burn.

Why the fuck don't people understand that they lock two of the cores for a reason?

Hey, i noticed there was this other processor (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103649)

What's the difference between this and the Phenom II X2 550? It says it has an extra core but people are saying that the 550 X2 has four cores when unlocked?

Most of the time yes but sometimes rarely they lock a perfectly good quad to keep up demand for the dual core.

If by any chance you're not being sarcastic, I posted it right after the OP, in the second post of the thread.
