So for anybody who isn't going to try to flame/troll the crap outta this thread, we have 3 people confirmed on the team and myself.

    So basically we need:

    - A camera guy (Armotekma): Have to have good bandwidth, good gfx card, and preferably a lot of experience with GM. Hopefully you have some video/sound editing experience too.

-A builder (Myself): Somebody who is really good at making contraptions, props, placement, and everything in between. We'll give you set layouts, prop ideas, and you'll work on making it.

-Writer (Filled by Myself): Obviously your job is to finalize our script. We're all going to pool our ideas, and you and I will finalize it into our script.

-Actors (Myself, Satansin): One person is going to be our head model expert. You should be good at posing natural looking models, and by natural I mean not jagged/ragdoll look.

-Lights/SFX/Zazz (Filled by Stathis): This person is going to work on lighting, special effects, sound effects, and possibly renders.

If you have work (like screen shots) that you've done please post em.

I was thinking something along the lines of Monty Python, Whitest Kids You Know, and Robot Chicken. Sketch comedy to start with, and possibly something bigger once we get a finished product.

If you pay attention, usually the ones done by just one person feel unfinished and lacking that special something.

Plus, when did you last see a good machinima with just one person?

Red Vs. Blue had a whole team. Pretty much every WoW one has multiple people. Usually the quality is higher with ones done with more people... usually.

    Edited:

@Stathis: Sounds good. Do you have an editing program?

Isn't this what you should be doing?

This is not always true. If anything, if you make it by yourself, you can stick closer to the vision that you wanted.

You should be able to do most of the things you listed yourself (except the modeler thing maybe). Camera guy? Why would you want somebody else controlling the camera?

To show you, I made this movie by myself, and I personally think it's nice.

@ Blooregardo: Nice work man. I'm definitely not the type to sit around and take credit for other people's work. I was drawing some storyboards up earlier, I'm work on the script, and pretty much be involved in everything. I've got 6 years working with Photoshop, about the same playing HL2 and other mods, and lots of other computer experience. I actually built my computer myself, piecing it together over about 3 years to get it where I want. I wanted to get a team together cause it's alot of work doing the whole machinima yourself.

    Edited:

@ Armotekma: Sounds good. From what I've read Source Recorder mixed with Demo Smoother works the best.

Had some problems with my firewall blocking GMOD. Got it fixed and server hunting now.

Here's some crappy storyboard I have so far.

Black Screen with ocean waves as background noise

For too long I've sailed these seas...

For too long I've been a prisoner to these seas...

I've seen good men perish at the hands of my cruel mistress, the sea...

They say it's driven me crazy...

    They say I've gone daft...

Fade in to Captain facing towards camera. Camera is facing over his shoulder.

    And to that I say...

    Hamburgers.

Captain... Captain! We have land in site! It looks like there are natives!

    (Grunt)

Boats wants to send a sh-

    Release her.

    -ore par... ty... Sir?

    I said...

    But we found la...

    RELEASE THE KRACKEN!

    Ye... Yes sir.

Kracken falls from the sky into the water. I expect the server basically to crash.

    Cut to the next scene

In the next couple scenes we come back to the Kracken wrecking havok.

I doubt anyone will do work for free for you then, you just dictate and sit in your chair of superiority and force people to do things.
    Ideas guy confirmed.

Nah, I hate that type of leadership. Right now I'm just putting everybody together and once we get everything settled and get everybody organized we can concentrate on making this thing. I want to get everybody's input and make this a team effort, not just a few people working on it.

The reason I tried to hash everybodies jobs out is just for organization and that way people aren't like "So what's your plan?". I don't think anybody cares if somebody comes up with a good idea about something and uses it... they'll get the credit. I'm gonna try to do whatever needs to get done, lead the rest of the crew, and get this finished into a final product.

I figure a team is great and everything but if we don't actually finish the project than it's basically like we didn't get anything done, right? So I figure I'm gonna be one of the ones doing a little of this and that to finish the whole project.

If there is anything I don't want to do, it's dictate. If somebody has a great idea, awesome... but it's just an idea until it gets done. So I'm gonna try to make sure that the team turns ideas into completed projects. You don't have to dictate to do that... and if I do I want my team to tell me and be open.

The whole idea of this to me is to make a machinima, something I've wanted to do for a long time. It's supposed to be creative, fun, and interactive. At the end we can say "Hey look what I did". That's what I want outta this whole thing, not be a jerk and just tell people what to do. Part of that is listening to the team's ideas and making a team effort.

Okay... that was a really long explanation.

You have to do something other than that. If you contribute nothing to the video itself other than rough ideas, you're trying to take credit for something that isn't yours. Or at least, after all the writing, acting, filming and editing, it won't be yours.

I made this machinima, with nobody's help, nobody else trying to "head it up" and "get it semi-organized". It took painstaking amounts of time and effort, and for a mediocre result like this, no less.

So if you expect a bunch of shoddy MS paint instructions and about 5 minutes of planning will make you an overnight master film director, don't be surprised if the end result (if there's and end result) doesn't include your name in the credits.

The agreement was I'd help as long as you weren't doing nothing.

I hate to be cynical, but to me it looks like your team is going to do all the work and you're going to take credit.

If that's not the case, I'd be happy to help.

Alone, ideas are nothing. They are concepts and theories. It's the effort artists puts into expressing those ideas that makes them artists.
