the count of tuscany is the only one with really awful lyrics

i really dont get how it changes from what i think is going to medieval themed thing to driving around in a car or something

    Edited:

    Several years ago
    In a foreign town
    Far away from home
I met the Count of Tuscany

    A young eccentric man
    Bred from royal blood
    Took me for a ride
    Across the open countryside

    Get into my car
    Let's go for a drive
Along the way, I'll be your guide
    Just step inside
    Maybe you'll recall
    A cannonball curator
A character inspired by my brother's life

honestly what the hell is that

You do have a point. Obviously there is a bigger meaning behind it though.

nope that first vocal section is just awful beyond reason

    Let me introduce, my brother
    A bitter gentleman, historian
    Sucking on his pipe
    Distinguished accent
    Making me uptight
    No accident

imagine this sung by portnoy in his angry voice

    Edited:

    Down the cellar stairs
    I disappear, like the heir
    The end is near
    Come and have a taste
    of rare vintage,
    of the finest wines,
    Improved with age

this in portnoys metal voice too

the lyrics, among other things, are complete cheese

scenes from a memory was cheesy in a pretentious sort of way

this album is just horrible all around
Have they released more songs other than the first 2 they released off it?

Edit: dont worry i googled lololol

Up to about 6:30 of Count of Tuscany and so far I think it's been awesome.

Holy shit who cares what the lyrics are (I listen more to the melodies/timbre etc than the words myself) this songs awesome. Can't wait for this album!

I try not to listen to leaks most of the time. I gave into finding A Nightmare To Remember because I heard it was that great, but otherwise, you know, I already preordered it, might as well get my moneys worth.

How was SFAM pretentious? It sounded very professional to me. :/

    pretentious != unprofessional

still wondering how I can be a troll if I loved SFAM and thought the rest of the albums up to Systematic Chaos were pretty good

honestly Portnoy needs to stop trying to sing/write lyrics and go back to something he's actually good at

it's too bad, I would have liked to have seen them live sometime but after two shitty albums I don't think I can call myself a fan anymore

oh well, two years and they'll have another chance

he's good at drumming and should stick to that, not writing songs about his alcoholism that ended 15 years ago and doing cheap metal vocals with a low-pitch filter

I like the theme, and even if the lyrics are... un-Dream Theaterish... I like the way they sound.

Dream Theater's music is something that I really connect to. Not entirely the lyrics (I'm not a recovering alcohlic) but the way they put it all together, the way they play, their sound, and just the sheer epicness all fit with me perfectly. It all just sounds so great to me.

And their singer's a Canadian, you don't get much more badass than that.

Except for having a bear playing guitar.

Ordered IaW from the fye store at the Supermall a couple weeks ago, just picked it up yesterday.

The only song I hadn't heard was Learning to Live, but the album's so damn cool.

I just started getting into Dream Theater about a couple of weeks ago, and I've managed to find favoritism in Train of Thought.

By the way, favorite Black Clouds & Silver Linings cover is Stargazer, just throwing in a sub-conversation.

God fucking dammit, every time I ask if I can get tickets to the show in Chicago, my dad says that I should wait until I'm 21 and go to some bar in St. Louis that they play at a lot apparently.

23 days until the album (Isn't it the 29th it comes out?)

August 8th I have ORCHESTRA SEATS for the concert at the Brookhaven Ampitheater.

I think it is the 23rd?

Also, I have the first NIN pack for Rock Band 2. The Perfect Drug is hard as fuck, and considered the #1 song available for drummers.

Can easily beat it and get a 98%. Doesn't mean it's not hard. Quite a bit of stamina is needed to get the double pedal with one foot in the beginning.

Considering the song inverts itself into an awkward pose on bass and guitar, and the drums (obvious), the only thing it's NOT difficult on is vocals.
Although I can't sing, so it's difficult alltogether.

I can beat it on guitar/bass...barely.
