That's really neat dude. Somehow though, i would say that the gray wall in the original compliments the colors (the square pattern though doesn't). Why not use the v-rays under hl2->effects-> volumetric lights? Usually when volumetric light shines through it blurs out a bit, some of the egdes of your light seems to be too sharp.

By the way, what's that rock pattern near the planters in the lower part of the image? It looks like a witcher 2 mountains prop but I don't think it's that/
The rocks are a combination of something like 6 models from the Mask's scene build pack. As for the rays, I added them at the last minute, I should've used a prop. The red is to match the image it is based off of, and to just add more color.
