Does anyone really like the idea of just changing your wall from wood to stone to metal?
To me it seems really cheesy.

It should be damn hard to get off of wood, it shouldn't be just as easy. Nor should you be able to change your wooden wall suddenly into a stone wall.

I do think that upgrading walls is a good idea but it should only add to the progression of that 1 base material type.

Eg - You have wood walls, you use metal fragments to build a frame around the edges, increasing its durability.
It could change the appearance slightly.

    Just me?

Here's an idea, don't make two threads 5 minutes apart that are both feedback threads. It could easily have gone in one.

I am confused. Are we allowed to give feedback on this feedback thread? Please don't give me any feedback.

So are you saying we shouldn't have any stone or metal walls, just wood? Or are you saying that we should have to tear down our wooden walls before replacing them with stone or metal ones, rather than upgrading? Not sure I agree with either...

I'm saying that I think it would be better if they were 2 different entities. You shouldn't be able to just morph your building block.

If you want to place a stone or metal house, you should have to place that as a foundation first. Not create your wooden foundation and then just slowly morph your house.

when u upgrade from wood to stone or stone to metal. ur are pretty much removing and replacing that wall in one step. do u want it in seperat steps?

do u feel that the foundation needs to be upgraded first prior to the components be upgraded on it?

or Are u suggesting that the lower grade component must be removed(Wood) prior to adding the upgraded component(stone)?

    Edited:

although when u are breaking into a house it doesnt make sense that when u break a metal wall it magically becomes a stone wall.

i would much rather see that the metal wall just takes longer to destory and once it breaks the wall is gone.

    Edited:

that also make sense if u ever have a damage wall of wood/stone/metal it will always take that material to repair it.

instead of needing stone or wood again if the wall was orginally metal it would always require metal to repair it

I have no issues with upgrading walls. I don't want to have to tear everything down and replace it to upgrade. That sounds annoying.

ya i dont have any issue with it eather just trying to figure out that rbow is suggesting. other then it sounds like he is suggesting that if u would want a stone building u would have to start from scratch and build it out of stone and ditch ur old wood base. which is a horrible idea.

How is that a horrible idea? It's not like you arent having to make a new base every day or two anyways with the new version (Unless you abuse the rocks with a Cupboard).
It's how Legacy is and it works. If there was a 3rd tier it would have been 1 of the best building systems of all time for any game like this.

It's a horrible idea because it makes for bad gameplay. It would also leave the environment littered with abandoned houses.

Decay deals with that, it's not a horrible idea at all.

    Edit;

It is also fun to come across a house falling apart, being the first to loot it or the 2nd is always a bonus.
    Did you never play legacy?

Decay doesn't exist any more. There was decay because a server couldn't handle all the buildings and crap everywhere so they had to make them fall down. It was an artificial system that was designed to deal with server problems.

On the other hand I did enjoy finding decaying buildings that hadn't been discovered.

Are you sure its not just because they haven't added it yet because they haven't finished the actual building system?
