    Hey everyone,

I'm no expert at how servers work and all that but what's happening is that in Legacy Rust there are still a lot of servers that redirect to the same one.
Yes.. Russians.. fake viewer-count too *I think*

I'm not here to complain/rant but I thought this issue was also on the new Rust and when Garry fixed this issue he said he'd also fix it for Legacy. So did that even happen? Anyway, I'm here to tell you they're back..

They got new IPs to host and spoof from, big surprise. IP blacklisting can't predict the future.

The thing with playercounts is, obvious faked playercounts are trapped, but can you really, really, really say that it's impossible for 200 real people to be on a legacy server right now (with or without shitty redirector tricks)? A genuine population could reach that high in bursts for an event, and if a server that claims that many gets permanently blacklisted as being a fake-count server, that's a very bad thing.

The fake playercount servers were like claiming to have populations like 1400/2000, clearly unrealistic with any existing version of the Rust server, legacy or new.

Alright thanks for the info. I was under the impression that the measures being taken were preventive rather than reactive but it makes sense that this isn't the case.
