If a team of 4-5 people are raiding a base, can they take down a pillar or foundation with guns or axes?

yes. It almost appears as a bug- it now only takes one person to destroy anything, and it doesn't work all the time either. When it does work it takes a very long time but that doesn't matter when no-one is around.
