    Hi.

I have set up an experimental server some days ago running oxide 2. The problem is that no players join because the server isnīt even listed. Is there a way to fix that?

    My start.bat:
    RustDedicated.exe -batchmode +server.hostname "hidden" -load +server.port 1337 +rcon.port 28016 +rcon.password "hidden" +server.saveinterval 3600 -cfg "server\my_server_identity\cfg\server.cfg" -logFile "log.txt"
Server is running without problems and joinable. We also built many buildings but we want more players :p.

    Yours,
    toolchain

What's your server's displayed name? And the contents, without any passwords or other sensitive info, of config.cfg?

    Hi.

The name is "toolchainssvr" and I have no idea where the config.cfg is located at.
If you mean the server.cfg: its empty.

If you are self hosting (by the sounds of it) and the server is joinable but cant be found in the list it will likely be you have not forwarded the server port correctly, both on your router, OS or any other software based firewall you may be running.

is rcon accessible for you with whats specified in your command line args?

I don't know your setup but I have done enough troubleshooting of this type of issue for people to know that port forwarding is exactly what this sounds like.

The only other ways I know of that a server would not show in the list are:

    1. disallowed characters in your hostname. if your server is only called toolchainssvr this wont be the issue;

    2. Server is too many versions behind the game client ergo will not show in the list and you need to update the server.

    Hi.

I have opened all ports used by rust (1337 for game and 28016 for rcon) for now every in and out connection and for TCP and UDP cuz I have no idea about the difference (win firewall). As far as I know there is no other firewall (because all of my game servers are problemless joinable and rcon-able).

    Still canīt connect over rcon.

    Yours.

EDIT: The ports are all closed from outside but I have no idea how I am able to play then. I will contact my provider tomorrow to fix that.

Ok, my hoster promised me that there is no external firewall installed. I have opened all ports and I can connect to the server ingame but not over rcon.

    Any ideas?

    what is your server ip?
    basically go on : http://rustserverslist.net
    and search for your server.
If it's listed then it means that players can see it, or it could also mean that your server is blacklisted.

EDIT: If it DOESNT show, it means that steam isn't getting your server informations.
    reasons? can't really tell ...
    maybe some ports are blocked,
    maybe your server isn't legit?

    Hi Reneb.

    Thank you for your answer!
My serverīs IP is: 37.120.172.49 with port 1337 for rust.

Funny thing about the list: if I enter the IP a result comes up but with port 1338 ?! wtf?!
Anyways I opened 1338 now but nothing changed yet.

The server is hosted by a legit german hoster who isnīt blacklisted anywhere.

    Yours.

    Solution:
Itīs unbelievable but the fault has been fixed by opening the next port coming after the game port. In my case it was 1338. No idea why this happens.

Because the server browser port is game port+1.
