DevBlog 40 mentions maybe zombies will even return as Team FP focuses on legacy-style fun game mechanics in the active branch.

Legacy game play is fun all right, and I am very glad to see the focus on that now that the visual immersion is at a high level of refinement. But does there have to be zombies? Maybe it's because I am an older gamer, seen-it-all, jaded, etc. etc. but zombies are about the least imaginative monster you could put in a game. Giant Rat might be #1, but zombies are shuffling along close behind. The first multiplayer game I ever played, Meridian59, had zombies. And rats. The next MMO I played, EverQuest, also had zombies. Rats, too. The zombies weren't even high level monsters. Just one of many fodder enemies to fight to gain XP and level up.

If zombies are going in, please make them interesting or different in some way from all the other zombies in all the other games and TV shows that have been popular from time to time over the past decade or two. Maybe they could be a source of bio-weapon ingredients, and a player must collect zombie heads to make a stink bomb that turns other players into zombies for a while. Something. Garry has the right idea putting zombies into legacy as a placeholder, because they are pretty generic, boring monsters. A stand-in for something more interesting to come later.

The radiation zones in Legacy remind me of B-movies like Them! with the giant mutated ants running amok. Another movie that Legacy reminds me of was Island of Terror. Cancer research gone wrong; island crawling with turtle-like creatures that suck the bones out of living an animals and people. There's even some flavor of Omega Man, and The Quiet Earth in Rust Legacy. End of the world scenarios, that sort of thing. It's a rich vein to draw inspiration from.

I dont think Zombies need to be in it at all, or those robot caretakers, Robots have been over done as much as Zombies.

I think what Rust already has within its environment should be used to create a whole new monster, something that uses Mutation from Radiation and blends Human, Animal, Nature and Machine all into one creature.

You could imagine a creature that has the body of a huge mutant Bear but with a Human/Bear Head, this would give it the strength of a mutant Bear and the intelligence of a Human, who would be able to figure out how to manipulate machines and tech to arm itself, the Nature part would be that it could grow vines and or bark from its body to conceal itself in the bushes or on the trunk of a tree.
The possible drops from the creature when you successfully kill it could range from organic tech, organic armor and rare organic materials.

Mutants are overdone as well, robots less so.

Another shout out for mutant insects. More along the lines of size of lower arms. Not THEM! Size.

Zombies do not fit in, imo. I'd rather see more threats that fit the theme as in suggested above.

Are you kidding me? they have been doing robots long before mutants! mutants didn't start till 80's. Robots are the MOST over done concept in gaming today.

I really want to see a collective list of "unique" enemies you've seen in games over the years bro. I keep seeing you posting in threads religiously bashing these main enemies. But really how many creative enemies are out there? and if you find some, atleast use them to support this weird campaign against mutants/zombies/robots (combining them all doesnt count, and is actually kind of lazy)

Not saying I totally support the return of Zombies, but if they were re-added what's to say that they would be the same loot pinatas as they were in Proof Of Concept? They could implement them as more so a "you done screwed up by going this route" kind of challenge, where sheer numbers would compensate for the 1HK from headshots.

I didn't combine mutants/zombies/robots i used logic to create my own idea, by using the very things the game contains to create something that would logically exist in Rust, robots and zombies don't fit in nor are logical to the environment of Rust. Since we have radiation it stands to reason that the environment affected by this radiation would create mutation, So by combining this mutation with other items that are in Rust, humans, animals, technology and vegetation, a unique creature is constructed.
As for unique enemies? i fought against, boxes, tennis balls, pizzas, love hearts and the gods know what else. Its not lazy combining items for my idea, its logical.
I'll quote Tyler Durden from Fight Club, "Everything is a copy of a copy"

Completely off topic but as for your use of the word "Actually", if there is any word i hate the most its that word, nothing makes a person lose their credibility than the moment they say that word.
