The future of Rust is not set in stone yet that doesn't mean we cant contemplate the possibilities. We all love the concept art, and some of us enjoy discussing the possibilities Rust has.
I recently brought a Mini-Cycle which is basically an exercise bike without the seat and handle bars, it sits on the floor in front of me and my seat.
I use it when i play Rust, and my pedaling is usually timed with my characters speed when running, every time my character stops, i stop pedaling, its funny but fun at the same time, good exercise too.
This got me thinking about the future of Rust and how we may end up playing it. So i did some research to see what new VR stuff had been released.
There are Three major items, The Oculus Rift VR headset, and the mobility devices Cyberith Virtulizer and the Virtuix Omni. The difference between the the latter two is not much except the Omni doesn't have crouching option just yet but its in development but the Cyberith does, the Omni has a better ground base. Of the two i like the Omni but only if they add the ability to crouch.

Think about how much exercise you could get if you combined Rust with an Oculus Rift and either a Cyberith Virtulizer or a Virtuix Omni. Especially if you spent the entire day playing Rust on large map.
This video shows a guy playing Skyrim using an Oculus Rift and Cyberith Virtulizer.

You can see the difference between the two and what it would be like if you were playing Rust with either devices. If it could be combined with items like the Wii remotes etc then you could also do the actions for hitting the resource rocks and trees.
the following video is with the Cyberith Virtualizer, in the video you can see how his movements also move the in game character, the out takes at the end are bloody hilarious. This video is as close to a Rust experience as i could find and could radically change the way Rust could be, instead of having to press a button to perform a hand wave you could do it yourself.

This year I've decide to buy myself a Oculus Rift to try out on Rust, i may also get one of the mobility devices. Should be good. :)
