Sometimes i just cant help going BIG(i just love rust. While theres minimal PVE and PVP its like a glorified lego set ATM)

I wanted to build a huge vaulted ceiling with no supports but its impossible due to stability. so we have to improvise.

So this is the completed building. scroll down to see the build process.

So i started building lots of pillars. but you can only build 3 high from the floor so to get higher i had to build catwalks amongst them. (these would be later be remove for ascetic reasons)

    Looking up amongst the pillars

I then removed half the pillars to give a better sense of space

That left me with a roof that looked like this.

I decided then to build the reverse of the building below on top. 3 walls up one in.

I then build a modest little 2x3 house on the top XD

Im not sure cos i never tried but i don't think this would of been possible in legacy?

Fell free to comment or drop ideas for my next build. Not sure how to top this XD

I did notice a couple of little bugs during this build.
After building the tall pillars, when it came to demolishing them. The top and bottom pillars of the tower of 6 disappeared but the four in the middle remained floating in mid air.
Also on the catwalks one of the floor tiles refused to demolish. It went down to 2/1000 then stopped and refused to budge even after hitting with hatchet.
Still floor and wall tiles randomly fall out. with a bit of persistence they stay though. but sometimes takes 8-9 tries before it finally stays.

    Edited:

    @hemi

Yesterday about 4 hours for the bottom bit and today about 4-5 hours for the top. not long at all really and that was on my own for 85-90% of it. Once you find a rhythm and have a clear picture in your mind how to proceed.

    Edited:

I would love to see some kind of bracket (like you get on a shelf or a balcony) for supporting floors so you can go out 1 more floor tile.

I wonder what you would have built with a chariot and 200,000 peasant workers.

HAHAHA! That's awesome, definitely something i would've done. Yet for some reason(possibly PC related problems) big buildings lag too much for me, which itself makes me very sad.
Did the building lag for you at all? especially when you look in its direction?
As for being possible in legacy, yes it was possible as long as you could find an area to place it, as i know there were only two good spots for a base of 30x30 like you have though the largest we could get i think was 26x26

    Edited:

    ...just...why
I have deduced that people of limited intelligence and imagination tend to ask the same question.

The answer to every Why is Why Not.

Yeah i was was thinking i hadn't seen any posts from you in awhile. This was lagging badly in the area around the build. Had to turn off basically all the graphics options to keep it playable. i think its about 17k entities on this one and 20k odd on the tower (which was much worse on the lag front.
Hopefully they can fix this issue (so i can go BIGGER XD)

When they do perhaps we should team up and create something truly epic :)

I built a River Front Town not long ago it was posted here you might have missed it,

I had to start the game in Fastest Mode and had everything turned off. But yeah i hope they fix it and the bloody lanterns lol. I hate not being able to build anything decent.

A team build would be cool, we could build Valhalla in the north. Add me on steam. :)
