    Hey guys

    running a quad core Q9550 @2.98GHz with 8GB and a nice radeon R7 250 DDR5

FarCry4 smooth always 40+ fps at High

Why im having every 5sec freeze with Rust even on Fastest (its same on Good/Beautiful) even with me changing things in F2???

I even try make it run with only 3 cores to test and its same thing and it's only consuming 35% with memory around 50-60%

Can't figure out how to make it not constant loading-freezing :(

    Help needed please

Your CPU is six years old, and your video card isn't the strongest (but is recent, and that's the more important detail). The CPU is the likely bottleneck.

Also, the game is not optimized, so you will have performance problems right now unless you have a new and powerful machine. Comparing it to Far Cry 4 is pointless because FC4 is a released game that's had at least some optimization (Ubisoft lol), so it's going to perform better than an alpha.

Can you play legacy without bad lag?

Saying that it his system is the problem is a joke. In reality it's the game that needs to be reworked.

I truly hate when these online computer geniuses tell you your Quad core 8 gig ram machine can't handle it. I run an even less spec computer and have no problem running new games on lower settings.

Mokado it's not your fault or the system you are using. It's plenty powerful for sure. This game needs to be better optimized, however they need to finish the game before they can really implement any code that will make the game run smoother.

But on another note if you are rich and have money to blow go ahead and by your self a new tower with and ssd raid configuration the best processor money can buy and 32 gigs of ram... oh a mother board to support that all and a video card that can make blind people see.

Than and only than can you play Rust right now with no lag... maybe...

i got a i7 3820 @ 3.6 ghz paired with a gtx 760 and i get the same damn stutter every +-5s too, his pc should be sufficient... can't really blame it on optimization aswell cause friends of mine with 3-4 year old hardware have no stutter at all.

    it's both.

the game desperately needs optimization before it can be played well on anything but a monster gaming pc.

your setup should be enough to play most games, but rust is just not there yet. you could compensate for the lack of optimization by increasing your ram, getting a better graphics card etc etc...i wouldn't unless you already planned to, because eventually this will be a moot point and the game will be optimized for lesser specs.

as someone who is playing experimental with 12-30fps on a semi-new laptop, i find that PVT makes a large difference in terms of lag/fps; the rest of the options pretty much have no effect either way. i can play legacy fine on the best settings. it comes down to how complete experimental is, and it really isn't. yet.

This is the one thing I have yet to see Garry discuss at all. He has mentioned things to try to improve performance, but the new version of Rust is so many times more demanding than legacy. I have yet to see him discuss how the new version requires a much better PC to play, and what that means for the final product.

    So Garry:

Of course we know there will be more work done on optimization and performance, but
    1) will Rust 2.0 have much higher requirements because we moved to the higher engine version?
    2) do you think that people with older machines that can play legacy fine will be unable to play the new version? thoughts about this problem?

It looks very much to me that many players who can play legacy will never be able to play the new Rust because, even after all of the performance and optimization work is done, the new version will be much more demanding.

I guess the only upside is that a it will be at least another year before release of Rust and many people will have new computers by then.

    1. Yes. It uses modern game engine functions like PBR. It will require a more modern gpu to play effectively.
    2. They may not unless they upgrade in some instances. Im sure they did think about it, however its long been planned to move to 5 as it gives them so much more to work with. Along with Early Access/Alpha means they can change requirements. If you refuse to accept this, I suggest either better researching what actual development entails, or wait to a game is released.

Also the person you hate so much on this forum? AFAIK He cant even play exp because his system is too old. You dont see him whining.
