Now that the new building system is much more stable and no bloody disappearing walls etc, i could again achieve Zen, this time i decided to build a River Front Town.

This was an experiment to see what kind of town i could build, and to see if it would lag.

Building this town got to a point where that it was like wading through mud that's waist deep while trying to build a house. Lanterns are also a culprit in the lag. I had to look at the ground just to be able to make it through the town, it seemed to also affect the sound, i could no longer hear the beautiful sounds of my smg while i fired a hundred rounds, unless of course i looked at the ground, but even then the sounds seemed kind of muted.

For more pics see the album.

The town is built on both sides of the River, at one end is a General Store and Hotel, and the other end is a bridge.

Each house is a two storey Unit with one Bedroom and a 2x2 back yard. The upper floor is connected to other houses with a walking platform. These Units are available for rent @$80 metal frags per week.

The Hotel is a three storey building with a variety of room sizes, singles doubles, penthouse rooms and presidential suites, it also contains dinning rooms and smoking rooms.

GrymThor Awesome build as always, reminds me of an wild west type town, pistols at dawn anyone.

I was on the same page as you this week i had Esgaroth in mind.
Here's the killer i was up to this point (this was going to be a village 10-15 buildings) when i found out all the locks were useless since my server updated,i had to wipe did not get to finish it.

    at night

view looking S/E towards village (the window missing in tower was so i could get the other pics without a window frame in the way)

Those living in Grym-Thors server will also have the opportunity to take a Mecca to the fabled Pyramid Temple for religious prayer or spiritual meditation. Found deep within the desert that starts at Grym's village.

Good stuff mate, did you have a problem with lag at all especially with Lanterns?

I was getting 25~fps when running Fraps with the odd glitch of 15~fps a couple of time a minute,
With out fraps round big builds with 30+ lanterns i get 40-50 fps normally, the forest biome is my fps killer i get about 30fps without a big build.

thats not too bad i guess, what system specs you running?

Also your idea of Pistols at Dawn, gave me an idea for a game inside the town. What if we could fill all the houses, one person per house and create two teams, East Side VS West Side, give them a sleeping bag to place in their home, and a large box with several guns inside, heaps of bullets, bandages, food etc, then we put a unique item something that cannot be gained unless u have admin access, like a Water Bottle, which will be placed in a Box somewhere, possibly the hotel, the teams then have to find the Water Bottle, and declare their find then they have to defend it from the opposite team who must then find the Water Bottle and make it theirs. Admins can watch over the game and time who has the water bottle the longest after each round.

Capture the flag(water bottle) sounds fun :) or instead of time each team has a storage box at the far end of the town. First to place it in their box wins first to 3 wins the game.

Edit: clip of my village (Fraps grabbing video @ half res)
