    Hello all,

As soon as I start up "Rust [development]" I get the following error: Game File Mismatch. Verify Game Installation.
I get the same error for normal Rust (so not the auto-updated dev. version).

The things I tried to fix it:
    - Reinstall Rust entirely
    - Verify game cache etc.
    - Change the beta settings so it auto-updates straight to latest dev. version
    - Running Steam as administrator.

Sadly, none of these things fixed the problem for me. Does anyone have suggestions on how to fix this?

    Regards,

    Falxhor

ps: Legacy runs fine for me. Let's see how long I can stand the hackers/badmins/exploits until I get the current Rust fixed heh :D

Edit: Legacy stinks. Anyway, after doing some research I read that EAC is causing this, since the teddy bear is related to it.. Yet I cannot find an answer as to how to fix it.

If you suspect EAC, did you uninstall/reinstall EAC as part of your uninstallation of Rust?

Theres a guy from EAC that I see posting in this forum from time to time, maybe he can advise exactly how to do it. I dont see a installation entry in programs.

I do know that it runs as a service though so it may just be a matter of disabling the service while you reinstall but must admit I am not sure if there is more to it, I'm sure there is...

Still getting the same error sadly. Thanks for the suggestion though!

I'm just wondering why EAC is detecting a game file mismatch even after reinstalling Rust or updating it to latest development updates. EAC service itself seems to work fine.

I'll also post the issue on their website's support forum.

I also checked if my firewall is blocking EAC but it's not, my anti-virus isn't on the EAC's list of "make sure EAC is whitelisted on the following anti-virus programs" either. I use AVG

Bump: After more time spent on trying to fix this I still haven't made progress.

Is there anyone with suggestions on this or even suggestions on who/where I can ask how to fix this issue?

Other than what you have already tried you could post or check in the bug reports section. Other than that not sure man sorry!

eac knubbe is the user that I think is possibly a rep from EAC, I have seen him post in a lot of the other EAC based threads, you could try sending him a PM for some guidance?

Hi! Apologies for not replying, I was extremely busy last week.

My OS is Windows 7 Professional
    My antivirus is AVG AntiVirus

This is maybe a bit of a stretch but could it be that my anti-virus is not detecting certain shit on my pc like some malware or something that EAC is picking up on thus giving me this error? I've seen that suggestion flying around on a forum thread somewhere :\..

    Hi,

Do you get the error for specific filename, or an error with teddy bear and that message?

Could you check that your AVG is at latest version from http://www.avg.com/eu-en/free-antivirus-download and that you have installed Windows 7 Service Pack 1?

    Hey knubbe,

I downloaded the latest version of AVG and now everything works just fine!
Seems like that fixed it for me.

I am running Windows 7 Service Pack 1 and yeah I was getting a flashing teddybear with black background with that error underneath. It would flash like 3 times and end the application.

The horror of the teddy bear is gone now though! Thanks :)
