December 11, 2013 was the big day Rust went live on Steam.

Since then, we've seen Rust go from this

    to this

It's been a long year; zombies were removed, legacy was put in a retirement home and a fresh start began, and a whole lot of cheaters got VAC banned. There were unraidable bases shrouded in pillars, stairways to heaven, and (wall) hedge mazes. The Rust team has grown and changed, with a bunch of new faces (and at least one ringer) on-board, and imo they've all been working very hard (except Tom)    jk I love you Tom   . Keep up the good work!

Player numbers have dropped a lot, but this is actually fairly normal. There was a large initial rush, and then it died away as people either found that the game was way more alpha than they expected or wanted, or they eventually got bored of legacy. Everyone still has Rust in their library for when it's further along in development and the foundations are set.

Oh, and Rust has sold over two million copies! It hit two million sometime in late October.

I really just want to shake hands and say thanks to the whole rust team as they have had to put up with so much shit thown at them: Cheaters, whiners, bugs, exploits, ignorant idiots, etc. Yet they continue to develop the game.

I have never been more proud to take part in Rust's development being among the folk that bought the game early on.

And who cares if the player count drops. Most of them were babies complaining about the game being so buggy yet it says it is in early alpha. I know its buggy, but I still play it because if you find bugs, you can report it and hopefully it will be fixed.

It's been a lot of fun, and it is still fun!

Can't wait to see what turns up next year. <3

Already had my fun for the money. For me, legacy is the game I bought, and experimental is what we would not get, IF the game was made by dumbasses like makers of dayz, nether, starforge.

Good Job so far, just be sure to attract a big audience on release, so it will have a legacy, and wont die out. Dayz will most probably will be released 2-3 from now, and will fastly decrease in numbers.
