It seems like the devs are looking into this already, but..

Give Server owners the option to toggle off some of the new features?

The idea being, if a server owner would like to play the same legacy version of rust on the newer engine/graphics/code, they could.
Just like they let them turn off or on lockpicks on bags in legacy. (I think they did?)

Also the porting of the legacy map is awesome news

I like the new rust, and its really going forward, but it lacks soul to me currently, just want to play the old rust with updates for now.
    Let us toggle please?

    Toggle list
    1. Cupboards
    2. Destructible buildings
    3. Steam blueprints (?)

And anything else similar to that

Sorry, but this will never happen. The list will eventually get soo long they would have to branch off and to make a "Legacy" version. Let alone the fact they would have to code freeze new features to start the new toggle process and take a few weeks of development away from actually moving rust forward.

Part of the reason they went with the procedural map rather than finish the static one is they old map was never intended on being kept. The assets on it were from the asset store and not proprietary. So now pat of porting the old map is recreating these assets.

But they ARE porting over the legacy map.
And you make it seem like its so complex to put the toggle on. Gary wrote the whole custom netcode in about a week if i remember correctly.

You dont necessarily have to keep defining new features, just make static certain ones.

Also, @Aronk, yeah? well so is the new rust.

Agreed, In fact I think more people still play legacy even with all its rampant hacking than this "new" god awful version of rust.
