[Slow Moving]

I am running build win/1161/0 (I assume this is a build number) and was wondering about spawning. I like to collect skulls now that I have built up my house and have enough resources that I am not going to die alot. One of the things I do is run around exploring the map and I kill anyone that I happen to come accross sleeping. Most of these are people who came into the server looked around for about 2 minutes and then leave. I have probably killed 40 people by just wandering around and taking their skulls. Out of the 40 people I killed about 35 of them were found laying in the sand and very few of them were found in the grass areas.

I used to find lots of sleeping people all over the map, but right now I am only finding them in certain areas and almost always laying in the sand. I spent a lot of time searching and not finding very many people. Every evening I play I see lots of people coming onto the server and leaving and not a sight of thier body seems to be found.

I was wondering is there some type of garbage collection going on as I would think I would be find a lot more people asleep laying in the grass?

I believe the answer to your question lies in the most recent devblog (37).

Players now all spawn on the beach. This is a bit of an experiment we’re running, it’s something we’ve thought about for a while – since the start of legacy in fact.

It means that players initially will run into each other a lot. It means that players will probably want to run away into less populated areas to start their new life. It’s an experiment anyway – let us know what you think.

Not sure when this actually made live version but it sounds like players spawn only on the beach now.

Why, 95% of these people will never come back into the server, the rest just deserve it, if they couldn't find a better place to hide. :)

I found a poor noob sleeping in his wooden hut with no locks on his door and all windows on his first floor. So I upgraded his hut to stone, put a small wooden storage behind the door, put a key lock on his door, and put the key in the storage through the window. Now he'll wake up like "WTF...?" I thought that'd be more interesting and mysterious than just logging in like "Oh. Somebody killed me in my sleep and destroyed my shack. What else is new?" That is unless someone finds the key before he wakes up and murders him, but that's not my problem. LOL

I did that once, but don't think they ever came back. I have raided some houses and I always killed them, took what I wanted. However, I usually leave everything else including their sleeping bag and put a wall back up where I knocked it down, unless they were being a jerk on the server which I then destroyed everything.
