This is just an idea I had buzzing around my head today, and I figured I'd put it in writing. What about a mod or server setting for Rust where you can start off by crash landing in a sort of 'maroon mode'?
Maybe you're a sailor that lands aground or a pilot that crash lands or parachutes from a crippled plane (that will crash elsewhere), or hell, maybe even a space explore having to make an emergency landing on a wild planet. -- in any case you start with a unique set of gear/clothing and maybe even weapons with a very finite amount of ammunition and supplies.

Your crippled vehicle could also serve as a source for some rare materials. Landing sites can be major points of interest for indigenous explorers and scavengers. Some might be seen from a distance via smoke trail for a duration of time.

Maybe you choose to do a random roll after each death.. lets say a small percent chance to spawn for a random crash landing. Also perhaps a means of preventing it from being abused. No chance for console suicides or sleeping bag spawns, and maybe a lottery system for applicable server logged deaths. So maybe a first spawn with a fresh IP gives you a small percentage chance, and every ~200 server wide deaths yields a new marooned player.

Don't hate me if you feel like this will break the game, I fully acknowledge this is sort of out there in left field, and I know there is much to be done in terms of core gameplay first, but I do remember Garry saying he'd like to see people exploring more instead of running hammersim.exe .. If you have your own ideas for ways to encourage exploration post them here too.

I agree, I would support. But dont really know if it will make the game have a new weather type, "spaceship-rain". I would add a secret bunker, door which throws out a person at times.

Though with the whole recreating legacy map (which really wasnt that great imo) It might make the above less engaging if every server map is the same. Even if they reimplement the procedureal later, players will want servers to stick with what they know. :(
