I like the beach spawning. It's like turtles or salmon. Newman hatch by the ocean but instead head inland to survive and potentially mate. My only issue is when I spawn on a FUCKING ISLAND WITH TWO TREES AND NO NODES OR ANIMALS.

Resource nodes: they seem to spawn clumped up for some reason or concentrated in one area. I'll find nodes on top of nodes sometimes, more often in some areas than others that should have them. It means other areas aren't getting them.

Animal spawn is weird too. Some areas have more animals than you have arrows or bullets to kill because they spawn so often. On the flip side, other forests or like areas that should be spawning them don't.

Suggestions:
Spawn shit only when people are there (despawning the old ones in distant, uninhabited lands), a radius of your choosing, scaling however with player population. They'd still have to head out and endanger themselves to get the goods. Overall player enjoyment would naturally improve, and it wouldn't be all that hard, I promise.

Animals need to stop being able to run over inclines as fast as they do over flat ground. I can't kill a fucking pig to save my virtual life, literally. ;)
Killing a chicken with a rock is next to impossible too, which is the mostly likely kill using a rock. They're worthless otherwise if you've got anything better. May as well go after bigger prey. Chickens are currently pointless.

One last thing: someone mentioned the movement up inclines was better in legacy than the system now: I agree. Being really fucking slow is the same as climbing. Unless the incline is like 80+ degrees or more, of which we obviously would not want to do it anyway.

Good points over-all too. Animals clipping through rocks annoys me to no end.
