I have been running on a dev branch server looking for resources for the past couple of days. It seems like resources are not respawning. Is this a server setting or expected gameplay.

It has been interesting running out way beyond my base though. Lucky for me there are few players ready to wax me.

I also wanted to try the new build.
So loaded up the dev and logged on to the london server.
Walked around for close to 30 minutes.
Funny thing was i then backtracked my own steps and after 2 minutes found over 15 rocks lying next to each other :D

I'm not sure whats up with the respawns. They do seem to respawn, but pretty slowly and randomly. I know when I restart my server, it respawns a bunch of stuff (it destroys all old spawns and spawns new ones when the server loads), but I haven't been able to see a consistent respawn pattern in-game yet.

They do respawn, but yes it seems to be fairly slow. At the current rate it seems doubtful that populations over 50 would be sustainable. I also think spawn areas are larger or more random than legacy. Which is good since people don't camp the resource areas as much.

I've noticed lots of rock piles in the desert but fewer trees, no rocks in the forest except for adjacent fields which have almost no trees, and a mix of both in mountainous snow areas.

I actually prefer the desert for building. Not as many people build there and so there's lots of rocks and plenty of wood. You can also see real far and won't get attacked by animals at night if your gathering. I'll make a trip to the forest for food and extra wood every now and then, but don't need much.
