Post #1I was at the peak of a snowy mountain in the middle of the night, when the sky lit up with meteors falling to earth. A few landed not far in front of me, was absolutely awesome to watch, and lasted AGES!
Can a dev confirm, or anyone else that has witnessed this event?

I saw something like that once, but it was pretty small and seemed to come from nowhere. I assumed it was a tracer or some kind of shrapnel effect from a gun. Didnt hear a sound and havent seen it since. Also it lasted about 1 second.

This couldn't be mistaken for anything other than a meteor shower, for it was awesomely animated, and they were fireballs coming from the sky, smashing into the snow.
Man, I wish i caught it on fraps!!!! Best thing i've seen in the game so far. This game, other than the various bugs that will be sorted eventually, is going to be awesome!

thompson fired into the air, lots of spent ammo, i do it all the time, looks amazing at night.

Way to make yourself look stupid, I need say nothing to help you look at as docile as you already do! As Tevax has stated, thompson firing into the sky at night from a distant can look this way to another player further along, even the fireballs coming down. So my statement, as crazy as it seemed, is quite plausible..
Now onto you...

Raining gunfire sounds likely. I was stalking through the woods near someone's tower when they decided to try to empty all 10,000 rounds I generously spawn my players with into the sky. As I got further away from the lunatic with the Thompson, I witnessed at first what I thought were "meteors" coming from the sky and striking the ground, trees, and rocks all around me. It was indeed the bullets from the Thompson coming back down. Really interesting to witness, especially at night. I hope that lunatic reads this post. He knows who he is.

A few of us on my server are going to try and replicate the effect with the Thompson, the effect looks AWESOME!

I don't have a problem with you mrknifey, I enjoy reading your posts, and I realise you contribute a lot to this forum and are well respected, but please don't make assumptions about me. Bringing forward what I "thought" i saw, was risky to ask about without copping ridicule, so why would I make it up. doesn't make sense...
Why is me being 41 even being brought up, all it does for me, is find it hard to take disrespect from kids, which is not you, you're not that far behind me... Why would I make myself look old, throwing an even bigger target on my head, wouldn't i pretend to be younger on a games forum lol?!!
I agree that thicker skin is needed, and I will probably take that advice, and I also admit that I grew up in a time of respect and common courtesy, not bad things, but i realise that things have changed, so I will just have to accept the fact and assimilate ;)

the problem is that many people do indeed make up things purely for reaction; it's not intended as personal assessment, but based on experiencing exactly that happening every week. so even my first assumption is that if it sounds farfetched, and the poster seems too insistent, its probably more trolling;)
the age sling was possibly in response to your denigration of the 18year old based on age, and perhaps a little uncalled for, so sorry for that.

We have ascertained that it was in fact Thompson gun fire from the other side of the snowy mountain i was on, but I had no idea it had that graphical effect,, with little fireballs etc, pretty awesome and unrealistic lol, and a weeee bit embarrassing :)
