MoreProbably been asked before but im new so asking anyway. Is there any plans in the future to add a female as a playable character as my wife and I usually play these games together and she cannot see herself playing a male.

The women would likely be adorned with fig leafs in appropriate spots if they are introduced. Doesn't feel right smacking a peacekeeper with a rock. :) That's a war guy thing.

Without getting too far off subject. No, it would be sexist to show the woman censored while the male is not. Women make war as well.. Queen Eliazabeth? Joan of Arc?

not too far from my image, but i'd have her bald and with less makeup.(the eyelashes mostly). the whole point (and i will try not to get too much into this again) is to have the female equivilent of the male player. so average build, and not pointlessly sexy. she's not there to fuck, she's there to smash your head in with a rock and steal your stuff. or help you do the same.

i think killing babies/pregnant women is probably the one line we won't be crossing anytime soon. and if you put babies in rust, half the population will see what happens when you hit them with a rock. never mind the whole rape sim crap that seems to pop up every third time the female model is brought up.

The male character model is more ripped and manly then a large percentage of the population of its player base, should the devs make him fat and ugly as well?

sure, why not.
but for the sake of the argument, i never said ugly. i implied that this isn't WOW with pointless armour that barely covers anything, with barbie dolls for female avatars, and tanks for male avatars. the current avatar isn't actually all that buff when you compare it to other games; why should the female avatar have model proportions when the guy is "average"?
of course, all this might change when there are options to customise the avatar. personally i have nothing against playing as a fat ugly dude XD

Mortal Online has naked players also, and yes, chicks were naked too, as they should be. Fuck political correctness and sexist shit. It has no place in the world, much less in video games.

Yes agreed. No censorship, we have enough of that IRL. Women should run around naked in the game if men do, what's the difference between seeing a man's genitals or a woman's?
Plus, it would make for some easy kills in PVP. While the basement dweller is creaming his pants over your female team mate, you can kill him easily. He's probably only got one hand on the keyboard while playing, the other hand will be occupied elsewhere.

I liked GrymThor model. I agree with mrknifey that she shouldn't be overly sexual or pointlessly sexy, but I think I'd draw the line at bald...
It would look weird with bald chicks running around everywhere, it's bad enough that all the men already look like the lead singer from R.E.M. lol

Perhaps the female character could be taller that the male and able to jump slightly higher

I believe female characters would be an interesting addition to the game, since there are plenty of women that would like to play the game.
If nudity is their main concern, censoring is a valid answer, if kept optional.
There are people who don't play the game for its nudity (why would they? the game is different and better for other reasons) and it's their business if they don't want to see cartoons all nude. Let's be honest, they resemble humans. Kudos to the designers.

If the lack of a female avatar is keeping female gamers from playing the game... if the lack of visible ethnicity, or long hair and beards, or the inability to run around in a group with avatars deliberately customized to be ugly with giant potbellies and mullets is stopping anyone from playing the game... then I have to wonder how long they're going to end up sticking around anyway.

I agree, but:
Some male friends of mine absolutely refuse to play a game as female characters, even if it's the only choice (tomb raider for example). This happens a lot, why not to women?
Also, customization makes sense in a survival game, although it would be funny to think of Rust as a battle game for the fittest human clone against nature. :)

This thread gets created every week or so and nobody ever uses the search function jfc.
The devs have planned greater character customization, including female characters, at least a year ago. However, it's not a high priority which is why you don't see anything in-game yet.
