I love the old rust map from legacy and I think that Garry should give us the option to switch between procedural and the Rust map for whichever the server owner likes better. What do you think?

They sort-of are if you keep up with the development side of things.

I say yes, because why not? People want it, and it could be really cool.

Depends how much work it would take. I love the old map, but it doesn't encompass everything the new version is offering (or will offer in future iterations). If you mean that you simply want to play on that map without the new stuff, I see no reason you can't just play legacy.

Just give us something to play around on while you mess around with your new rust Garry. I wanna roam into hangar with a grin on my face and a stone spear between my legs..

it would be very difficult to port the old map file over to the new system correctly. I can see them adding a legacy inspired new map that was preconfigured and static across all servers. A lot of what made the old map the old map was how various rock formations fit together and created crevices and places to explore. The new world rock models are different from the old ones. Even if you placed the new rock models wear the old rock models originally were it would still feel very different. Not only that, but you would not be able to include things like biomes and the resources they generate in the new version.

They're already doing it, guys. This thread is completely pointless and redundant and OP needs to learn how to search.

I loved legacy map, but I love the new map(s) more. There have been a few times when I've been walking round it and been amazed that it was procedural. If you had asked me to guess I would have said it was hand crafted. You guys are doing awesome work.

By all means, port the legacy map over and give people the chance to use it if they wish. But don't give up with the procedural stuff, it truly rocks!
