I like to suggest a new feature, a craftable backpack to store premade gear/items. You die in pvp, just grab the backpack kit and jump back in the fight without dragging all your items back into your inventory one by one...

Love it!
Sounds like something that they wouldn't go for. You could just have a "OH SHIT" storage box (Hopefully large boxes soon) by your front door/sleeping bag. The UI will get better so I'm assuming there will be right click equip and looting later on.
The new boxes are triple the space. They came in last night but are bugged right now, should be fixed today. Of course this is dev branch im talking about but they will be lockable also
Edited:
Maybe double the space as i think about it now lol
Sounds like I need to go check out the dev build. All this stuff I'm reading about sounds amazing.
I like this idea. In combat, if you already have a backpack, you can either drag items from one to the other, or, if it's worth it, drop your bag and whatever's in it and grab the other one. Could also lead to some interesting means of trade.
If it's set up the same way it is in dayZ, Sure. I could see like 100 cloth being used too make a backpack, which acts as a second inventory with maybe half the slots, if you die, obviously the bag can be looted or stolen.
I dunno... I'm going to say I'm undecided. Already sleeping bags are overpowered in terms of base-defense and defenders being able to zerg their base.
I'd say I'd be okay with this once a cool down for sleeping bags is restored. I don't mind someone dying, respawing, and coming back out to fight once or maybe twice. But facing the same guy 30 times in 5 minutes gets pretty damn annoying.
I wouldn't mind it if when picking up an additional [item containing] backpack, it occupies your hands until you put it down. Also picking up and putting down an extra backpack would take around 8 seconds and make you stationary during the process.
I like the idea of having to hold it in your hands and FLEE rather than fight as a choice. I don't like the stationary suggestion.
I hate dayZ but the one thing they did right was their container = inventory space system and showing what you have on your body.
The best thing rust could do is simply make the inventory function similar to DayZ, meaning, clothing and backpacks are actual containers, your inventory is actually made up of containers you are holding or wearing.
What does this do?
1) you can put cloths/backpacks in your house/around the map that contain other items.
2) you can steal stuff from peoples backpacks.
3) you can gain more inventory space if you chose to wear/craft gear that is tailored for inventory space but has other trade offs.
4) you can see if a naked guy has a gun.
I would also like to make the stealing system have some sort of cast time and noise and also have a command the player can do that makes him unable to use weapons for a period of time to show oyu mean peace, and of course you make the other guy do the same.
Also I like the concept of NOT having 4 pipe shotguns in my "belt/use" slots instead limited to 1 main gun, 1 side arm, 1 melee, 1 tool that shows on my body.
Love the idea of backpacks. If we have craft-able metal armor, candle headlamps, harpoon guns, why would our nude caveman not be able to make a backpack?
- Obvious reasons stated above
- Gives a use for the "Loot" function again. Meaning you can only "Loot" people who have a backpack on.
- Extra layer of defense maybe? Add metal fragments to the backpack to have an armored backpack.
- Fashion statement. Because a naked man with nothing but a backpack is just damn sexy....
