hey when i use the steamcmd i get only empty files is that a bug?
i tried ./steamcmd.sh
login anonymous
app_update 258550 -beta experimental
and get only a textfile with "empty"

experimental isn't the right branch anymore. Take that entire -beta switch out.

Linux version of the DS is basically not available right now because it's too broken and it's not a high enough priority right now.

People running DS instances on Linux currently use wine to trick the Windows DS into running. There are threads for this. I suggest using the search function at the center top (not the right search box, which is actually Labpunch), but note that the default search options you get suck for pretty much everything. Click the left-hand tab for a much better set of options. Narrow your search to the Rust subforum,and keep an eye on the dates of posts so you're not trying to follow outdated instructions.
