The new building stability system is in on the dev branch now played with it for an hour.

It works well it does stop impossible staircases and stupidly unrealistic structures, and placement of the components is a lot more dynamic although there is a larger chance of items being placed wrongly.

All in all I like the new system but I am worried about bases being taken out just by taking out the foundations.

Glad I run a server to play with (sorry test) this system I would have had to fell 3 or 4 large forests to build some of the buildings I broke tinight but its great fun lol.
I worry for the foundation as well, but the only thing i fear of the performance in the game now that falling wood are gonne be everywhere.

What happens if you are standing under it when it falls. Would be interesting if someone chops out a foundation to collapse your house and it crushes them.

I understand completely that Garry wants to release his new construction process in stages. But if this update only consists of two levels of walls in the tier system, I fail to see why we should build at all.

Level 1 wooden walls can be broken in about 30 seconds. Level 2 in about 90 seconds. You cannot stack walls to make it effective unless you put down a football fields worth of foundations. I really do hope a hierarchy of metal walls is added in the night. If not, then I am just going to run around spearing people, dropping the loot, eventually dieing, rinse and repeat -- Until next Friday.
Why pillars? why this shit build system? I also dont like hammering for 10 years and making the modelers make 6-7 models for each building piece but please for the love of god this is such shit compared to 2 weeks ago build.

The pillars exist to add support to the structure above. Remember in the previous system how you had to add walls in the middle of your house to build the second floor? Now you can build pillars.

All of the building sections also have a stability percentage, pillars will increase the percentage if its not already at 100%

Stop bitching about people having opinions!!
Yes, it's alpha, so they NEED our thoughts, that's how this shit works dumbarses ffs!

The OP had a valid point, yet was shot down by keyboard warriors flexing their forum muscles, because they're probably pussies in RL.

If you don't have an opinion on an alpha game, then you're not helping, piss off.

OP, metal walls and floors were awesome, and made a day of collecting resources and storing them, feel ok. Why spend days building, collecting etc, only to have them taken WAY too easily, why would you bother in the first place?
The 46mins it used to take to get through a lvl6 wall, was awesome, the system worked, and we were able to secure our bases if we put the time and hard work in.

This is "my" opinion on how to make the game better, and it's opinions that make indi games.. Remember this when posting a stupid reply trying to insult, only to make yourself look like an idiot, which a few have done so on this thread already.
I don't expect my opinions to be changes made, I just want them to be considered, like any opinion on these forums, which is the "purpose" of these forums.

Hopefully I covered all "dumbarse" bases to avoid some nerd trolling my post...

    Peace.

Opinions are like assholes everyone has got one! But on the subject of the new building system i have a feeling they will be bringing in more levels of walls or atleast making them stronger. As it stands there is no security in a base at all which makes them rather pointless. Its a balance issue and will no doubt get addressed later on, right now lets get the bugs out

Is there anyway to build secure(r) bases in the new update? Currently I have built 2 bases, and both were raided within 10 mins of leaving the property, (even with double layered walls and locked doors). Has anyone come up with a secure design?

The new building system is terrible. The demolition system is even worse. If I'd known Rust was going to go into this extremely bad, misguided and unplayable direction I wouldn't have bought it over a year ago. 800+ hours of playing this game in Alpha and it just keeps getting worse. Dont even respond to this if you dont agree. Just move on, like you do when you see a math equation.
