Unfortunately mutant animals are spawning underneath by base and they are driving me crazy. Admin has killed them a few times and replaced foundation but this has not helped, there is a thread about it in the bug section.

I would like to rebuild in resource hole as I like the resource and mutant animal access and I know the community there but I really have the best spot at the moment at the top of the hill. There are some other nice spots but they are occupied or my view of the ore and animals from the lookout room of my (3 x 1 rooms) 4 level suicide base would be obstructed. I could go higher but my neighbours could also.

Please advise where else would be a good place to build that has similar resources and mutant animals together, not too far from loot areas, and that I could fit my 3 x 5 foundation (including outer pillar layer) or even 7 x 9 if I wanted to build on a 3 foundation pillar layer. I could also build in rock where stairs could not be built around the 3 x 1 although it would be nice to be very close to resources and mutant animals.

Yes, reds are important! Anywhere in particular in french valley? would you recommend out in the open or in rocks some place? I just discovered a base decaying near me in resource hole but when I went to investigate it also has reds spawning underneath, so annoying!

I seriously can't think of a better location than bang on top of silk mountain, at the back of french, very central location and the mountain is easy to defend- great for spotting everything. Im not sure you would fit the size base you want, but just build up high.

civ2 loot spawns are just there to.

How about 10 feet outside of resource hole........? There are plenty of flat areas within 15 seconds of walking from resource hole. Echo Valley, Metal Valley, the road entrance to Resource Hole, across the road from Resource Hole, the mountains behind Resource Hole...these are all withit 15-30 seconds of RH.

But as stated, French Valley is a great place as well.

Metal Valley, on the other side of the rocks from Resource Hole, is a great spot. Nobody really bothers to check for bases back there against the rocks, and you can reach Hole in just a few seconds. If you're willing to put up with a slightly longer run, I'd advise Metal's coast (there are some little plateaus you can build on) or Echo's coast.

I would be happy enough with 3 x 1, or 4 x 1 and no pillar foundations around - if nobody else could build around either, and there were no cliffs higher than base people could jump from.

The only things I cannot craft yet and would like to are all of the leather set and most of kevlar. I could consider tolerating the mutant animals in foundation until I have farmed the plans for those from the mutant animals outside of the base and then move somewhere. Or maybe it is a good idea to stay near them even when I can craft everything? Is there a lack of PVP in next valley?

I have lived in metal valley, and the rocks between ecko and resource hole previously. On my server resource hole is like a town with the amount of people built there, and to form alliances with those there and have a real stake at the resources within you really need to live in it. I could move to the edge of the town but my view of the resources would be obstructed and I like having the option to kill anyone with my bolt action who kills me when out farming.

French valley or even the rocks between it and silk valley, previously called silk mountain, is sounding good. I am going to go investigate on a creative server later and see what I can put together.

Thanks for all the input so far but if there are other suggestions or thoughts, please keep them coming. Basically I would like to be close to ore and regular animals, be able to see within bolt action range same resources (if possible), close to loot/mutant animals (unless this is something only really needed until I can make all the leather and kevlar myself), and a busy enough area for PVP. I would like to build either a 3 x 1 or 4 x 1 with from a one to three layer of foundations around - or in rocks where I do not need to bother with the foundations.

In my experience there is more than enough PvP in Next Valley. (On the server I have played.)

Depends on your goal in a server. For total server domination go china-farmer in next valley, get some guns, kill the people that live in resource hole and you'll probably have m4 + kev :)

For most amount of action go small rad, most people that focus on the FPS part of Rust will try to dominate that area.

For more relaxed playing in smaller groups big civ and anywhere near hangar/factory are kinda awesome
