Firstly, let us just say we are on day three of playing Rust and we are very much enjoying sitting around as a family playing it, so thank you all very much for developing and supporting this game.
I dual boot Windows 8.1 and Ubuntu 14.04 on my laptop, specifications of which are Intel i5-3317U (set to 1.70GHz Turbo which should bring it up to 2.6 Ghz where necessary), Intel HD Graphics 4000, and 4GB RAM. Our preferred operating system is Ubuntu and Rust runs much smoother for us using it, even when the graphics are set to fantastic although for some reason the ground textures never load properly. The ground is dark and there are just a few blades of grass here and there. We are from Ireland so play on the UK #1 server. The ground terrain loads fine playing Windows. On Ubuntu, in the Rust console, I have confirmed grass.on "true" and gfx.bloom "true".
Please see the screenshot below attached and advise if there is anyway to make the ground terrain load properly on Ubuntu.
