He's warning people to not go on that server.
This is pretty much why I'm not playing Rust right now. Every server I tried to find for months either had abusive admins or was filled with hackers.
The term "Abuse" is also stretched pretty thin in this community. My server has had dozens leave in a huff because someone cried admin abuse when I or any of the other admins had to punish rule breakers.
People will leave a server at the mention of admin abuse, when they should also be asking what the player has done as well. On our server I am at full disclosure, if you wanna know what a rule breaker did to warrant me stepping in and knocking them around, just ask and ill be happy to announce it. Our players like that, they know what we do and why.
A good way to avoid this kind of situation is to record every "admin action" and post on a blog, youtube or somenthing. Make a youtube channel for your server and start posting rule breakers, bans and every kind of stuff you think its needed there. I have one for my server and its great.
I dont really blame the players because i know how they feel. It's been a long time since someone called me "admin abuse" on my server ever since i started this youtube channel + page. People tend to not grief, abuse because of this. And those kids that start spamming arround " omg he abuse !! i got banned for nothing " stopped.
Thats actually a really good idea. Gonna have to look into that. Thanks!
Yea, I'm having OpenBroadcaster and XSplit Gamecaster always ready to record or directly steam to twitch, it's very useful. I can recommend this to any admin out there. Stream or at least record what you're doing while administrating.
Also, obviously, every Rust player should have a recording software running anyways. It's easier to send a video of someone cheating to an admin than spamming the chat with HACKER and ADMIN ABUSE and such.
Okay, as a player that was there in this situation, I can tell you firsthand the admin was DEFINITELY ABUSING. He was not telling us to 'get the fuck out', he was acting in response to us telling him to stop snooping in our crates. It's admin abuse.
Technically speaking all crates on a private server belong to the owner, and the admins id the owner allows that sort of thing. But all in all its better to ASK an admin to stop certain things, than telling them to. Still no proof that the players in this situation did not antagonize the admin. (again, i am not defending the admins reaction, it was wrong) No amount of personal accounts of the situation qualify as proof, it is nothing more than hearsay.
I have had admins teleport to me and kill me, I have had admins blow up my base, I have had admins spawn their friends kevlar/C4 repeatedly, and I have received my one and only ban from a server ever, simply for joining 20-30 other people (who also got banned) renaming ourselves after his whiny friend xD
While there are abusive admins out there, there are abusive players as well. I have been on the receiving end of players trying to tell the rest of the server I (insert worst case abuse you can think of here) simply for telling them they have broken a clearly stated rule and this is their only warning to correct said issue. So you can imagine why i am a bit of a skeptic when i hear "admin abooose" screamed in unison by mass amounts of people. Leaves both sides that have been abused a bit jaded and less likely to listen or care for the other sides plights.
My biggest problem in a lot of these comments was simply that a lot of people are on the admins side saying we were antagonizing him. The night before the event obscured we had built a 1x1. He teleported to us and started snooping in our crates and acting like a total retard yelling out gibberish and giving our position away. We asked him to leave and stop snooping in our crates NICELY but he kept commuting back and doing the same thing. They had a griefing rule, you can only grief with destructible items (wood barricades, crates, etc). After we had been on the server for a day with a crew of about six we had managed to create a pretty good size base (as shown in the video). He started asking us about some wood node thing (no clue what the heck a wood node is). He continued coming and questioning us and we simply got annoyed with him constantly popping into our base, looking in our crates, and popping out. It was too easy for him to nab something of value and sneak off with it.
My first question is, Was anything taken? if the answer is no, then he did nothing wrong, he is the admin. you may not like it but that doesnt give you a say in the matter.
Second, I have not seen a single person yet "side" with the admin. I have seen people agree that its his right to do what he wants, but no one has said they agree with what he did.
Third, again without video or audio anything that any of you say here amounts to NOTHING more than speculation.
You spelled "right" wrong -_-
Yeah, I know there are admins out there that do their job and get tired of small children shouting about it as well. Well, like you said, there are irritating people on both sides I guess, lol.
