Post #1So I just wanted to put this server out there so that people don't spend to much time on it and have it all taken away. Basically the admin kept teleporting into my base and looking into my crates and when I questioned him about it he told me to stop being a bitch, so I told him stop being an annoying admin. server sucked admin would spawn on you and look at all your stuff. We asked him to stop and that's what he did.
And he spawned in items. He said he wouldn't play went against it he through up a 1x1 then 5mins later had a 5x5 with doors and walls all through out.

This is why we can't have nice things.
This is also the reason I think we should have a few official servers with certain play styles and maintained by face punch appointed admins.
That or you have to be approved or something to own a server because good rust servers come by too few when it comes to your perfect play style.

I seen it on many servers too be honest. C4 and god mode should not be admin tools, only invisible, and warping too player. They could still abuse but at least its not so easy too spawn 100 c4 and kill a whole guild.

The power of a hacker (arguably even more) and no chance of being banned for it, a paradise to the local cod community. I love rust but please don't use the same system for the experimental build, we already suffer enough from hackers which will always be a problem, but this can be fixed permanently.

Do something about what? The guy paid money to have a server. He can run it how he wants. You don't have to play there.

You are correct, it is his server and he can run it how he wants to, but if an admin expects for people to stay on his server, then he should probably take his actions into consideration.

Lol I was on this server. I logged on after leaving for a few hours, and the population was at 0 lmao. Was the admin young?

I was on this server too. Yeah, he sound like he was around 14-15. After you guys left, he also told everyone to go to Next Valley and loot your base saying that you guys all "quit forever". After people looted your spawns, he teleported to where everyone was, killed and banned people one by one. I was the last of us.

Well the OP simply warned everyone about the server because of admin abuse. He can run his server however he wants, but players also have the right to approve or disapprove of his server as well.

The video if proof enough for the actions the admin took, However without the minute or two of video that contains the convo between you and the admin, I dont believe the story. Too much could have been said to provoke beforehand and left out.

But seriously, pretty bad. haha. The problem with most Admins is that they also try and play the game. very hard to mix the two.

I encourage this because when admins play the game they know what's good and bad for players, how the game works and also to get to know the community on the server. It's much easier to manage servers if you are involved.
Just make sure that you never use rcon while playing, but most people can't handle the fact that they have rcon access and use it anyways for their advantage. If you're not a good admin you will have thoughts about spawning items or teleporting to people while playing, as only you would know, and if you do have these thoughts just don't do it and play the game like everybody else or you're not any better than hackers with invincibility and speedhack.

We had literally been on the server for about an hour and the admin came snooping around In our chests. We had started working on a bigger base (we were all in a 1x1 at the time). I ended up logging off for then night and when I got back in the other guys had started to build the power cube you saw in game. He caught wind that we had found c4 and started questioning me (most inexperienced in the group). I ended up logging off again to go do something else and I was told that he continued to harrass us after I had left leading up to the video.

That sucks OP. I have experienced this sort of antics myself. Recently I was on a map and one of the Admins friends were raided. I was minding my own business in my base crafting and cooking when all of a sudden there is this admin standing in my room and telling me not to be alarmed that he is admin. He proceeded to go into my chests, then logged out (while in my base) his body just dropped on my floor. I killed him, took his shit and then emptied all of my chests onto the floor and never went back to that server.
Raiding is one thing but just teleporting into someones base to see what they have in their chests is complete BS.

Im not defending the admins actions, what i am saying is, that without video proof leading up to that point its fishy at best. The events leading up to that point "could" contain 20 minutes of your group provoking the admin, (name calling, insults, racial comments, religious or sexual sluts, etc.) I am an admin on a server and i have sat back and watched many groups harass a community, only to turn around and target me because they saw my floating name walk by.
As for the snooping in your crates, that is not exactly cool, but he is well within his rights to check (so long as nothing is taken) on one of our servers it is PvE so c4 and grenades are disabled, but when oxide updates there is a point in time where players can get them. so we check crates regularly. our players know what we are doing and why, so there are very few issues had with it.

As an admin for months that rarely used any admin commands, I learned players yell admin abuse at every instance. And it's trendy to be a "rebel" and purposely harass admins until they react in any way. It's a game within a game. Some players purposely grief admins to no end, just because they are bored.
As far as the video goes, it looks like clear admin abuse to me. However, it seems like this is a very big group of players and who knows what happened prior to the recording. It's abuse I guess, but if his point was to ban you regardless (for whatever happened prior to the recording), but before he does that, he will make sure you see your base get destroyed, then his objective was successful.
The fact it's so blatant says to me that he probably didn't care if you knew what he was doing. It's the admins that try to hide it you have to really watch for. This guy obviously wanted you guys off his server.

They are just joining a random regular server, they dont expect the admin to do that sort of bullcrap. After all the word and TIME the admin does actions like that, wich is actually a big time waste..

They should probably do a rating kinda thing, you can give each server some stars and then you can see out of 1 look if it is good or not.

Well to each his own I guess, but I just don't get it. I never use The rcon tool while I'm playing personally. Whats the point of playing a survival game when you've got everything at your disposal with a single click. Guess some people don't get the point of this game apparantly, really sad though.

It's the only form of acceptable admin abuse. When a whiny player gets headshotted by someone who isn't even an admin, then spends the next 30 minutes publicly crying about "admin abuse" and other BS instead of dropping off and finding another server like a big boy, I'm going to repeatedly humiliate him.

That is one of the few tools that admins have on vanilla servers.

I wouldn't call C4 a tool. Neither is that Uber Hunting Bow. Admins have almost no "tools" in Rust except for the invisibility armor, which doesn't even make you fully invisible or soundless so you can stalk people you think are hacking, or kick, ban and teleporting.
There's no spectating, no no clip, nothing really useful. If Rust had noclip OR spectating OR proper invisibility + no sounds, the admins job would be much better.

These tools are all long overdue. I'm personally hoping for a "padded room" solution for abusive players, where they get muted, turned invisible, and can't interact with anything. That hacker who's flying through the air and headshotting everyone? Sure, he's still here, but nobody can see him and he can't interact with anybody.
Or maybe a "10% speed" timeout for abusive players. For 5 minutes, everything they do is at 10% of its normal speed. Combine this with a mute and you've got turnabout.

Funny. They had a plugin called jail that put players (teleported them) in jail, muted them, and left them there for whatever you set the time to (1 - infinity). We literally built a metal prison for this plugin.

That is great. Build that into the game and it would be pretty sweet. That's the best way to deal with abusers and hackers. It annoys them without harming the legit players, and more often than not the abuser will have a complete and total meltdown ... which nobody can hear. Or they're just leave, which works too.

but you probably broke a rule / hackers / wall looted / what ever the number of things players can do to cheat and abuse exploits are countless.
clearly that's not an admin abuse, as here he is just telling you guys to get out.

If you have a set of rules in your server stating that greifers or abusers or whatever are muted and sent to the prison for a period of time, the whiny players that usually come crying to the forums screaming admin abuse wont have a leg to stand on seeing as they are playing on a server that has an established set of rules, seriously it isn't that hard.
Any player that joins my server is asked to read the rules and adhere to them. If they don't like it they can leave and find a server with rules they prefer. If they break the rules and I mute them then send them to prison for a 5 minute cooldown, No way can that be constituted as admin abuse in my server as it is in the rules that if you break the rules, this is what you can expect. And the shit players that are always the most abusive or toxic in the server are also the ones that NEVER read the rules.
Seriously the best thing to silence them when they cry admin abuse because I skydived them into the town prison is "You didn't read the rules like I asked did you?". I then see a /rules pop up from that player in the console. They either say sorry and life in the server goes on or they carry on a bit more as though some grave mistake has been made and the server will actually miss them, then rage quit, and good riddance.
The best thing an admin can do is back himself up with an established set of rules. In this case if he was snooping through peoples crates well its pretty cut and dried isn't it? That's definately not something I would be doing and sounds like hes definitely admin abusing, but its important to remember that there's always 2 sides to the story and would love to hear the admins side of it before anyone passes judgement
