Hey guys. Just to gather opinions. There are a lot of zombie/survival games out there. Like Rust, Forest, DayZ, 7Days to die and H1Z1. Perhaps more you saw ( you are welcome to add new names). What do you think of them?
Some thoughts:
Forest:
+ great graphics
+ great AI
+ survival is a strong keyword
+ regular updates
- bugs, bug, bugs
- gameplay for 3hrs.
DayZ
+ good game engine
- Bad AI
- loot does not respawn
- zombies run through the walls, on both versions (imo should be fixed for now)
- game gets boring quite soon. It is not so much survival as running simulator
- good first impression, lack of new content
- price
7 Days to die
- game engine- ugliest out there
- bad AI
+ crafting
+ multiplayer
+ playable
+ local server
+ new content
- price
H1Z1
+ good game engine
+ great loot ideas
+ great AI ( on demo wolf attacks deer, mutants attack wolf etc)
+ solution veteran players vs noobs, more noise and bigger buildings attract zombies
+ going to be free
- is not released yet, cannot have opinion of gameplay
Rust
+ great idea
+ started with good community
+/- community brings new content, no native community support
- good first impression, lack of new content
- AI
- hackers and veterans rule the map
- no noob/veteran balance
- rust reboot fuzzy and unknown release date
- too expensive for its value for now
The Stomping Land
+ Good game engine
+ Great idea!
+ Great first impression
+ Quite good for alpha
- gets boring very fast
- no noob/veteran balance
- quite expensive for alpha
Verdict, IMO, the winner is H1Z1. But as not released, might be just next hype.
The Forest. Amazing at first. With Molotovs being the end all ultimate AI killer and way too many bugs, the replay value is limited. It is updated some. The AI is very good though, very scary. The best I've seen in survivor. Graphics, amazing.
DayZ. Horrible AI. Find guns, capture a person, die, restart. Unsure about updates as it had little replay value to me. Graphics mediocre.
7 Days To Die. Amazing. New smooth mining (no more blocks), the AI is decent, only AI I've seen as scary is The Forest. In fact, AI destroys everything you build and can even find you underground. Hordes, scary. Items and updates, each week. Graphics, bad.
H1Z1. I've seen videos, it looks like Rust with better graphics. I've heard the Alpha will be 20 dollars but when it's officially released it will be free. Sounds like a huge scam. Jump on the survivor bandwagon and charge people to support it in early release. As popularity dies down, give it out free and find a way to charge money for certain content.
No thanks, red flags. If the alpha is free, I'll try it.
Rust. Classic (I am on their website). Graphics not great. Building was easy to learn and extremely fun. Gathering was meaningful. AI isn't good or scary, but fun to farm. That, mixed with the dangers of pvp made the game extremely replayable. As of now, no updates or new content, and the experimental version unplayable, we'll have to wait to play this again. :(
The Stomping Land. Otherwise known as, Dayz with dinosaurs. End game literally takes 10 minutes. Find cave, feed injuried dinosaur leaf, ride him. Game over. All items can be built in minutes. AI awful. Trex runs in circles around you doing nothing.
Verdict: Rust (although 7 Days currently has my 1 spot), 7 Days, The Forest in that order...... the others I won't play again.
