more curious than anything, i'm wondering what the most memorable first death was for you:)
mine was first night on a vanilla server. i'd wandered off, gotten lost and now i was cold. so i found a large rocky space to light a fire and keep warm, hoping no wolves or bears would roam around to eat me. in the distance, getting closer i hear singing, and see a naked skipping merrily toward me. douse the fire. he comes closer, still singing about...well i cant say the words, but different nationalities..anyway, he seems harmless, so i let him warm himself by the fire. we dance, he sings. gives me some chicken. nice time had by all.
the sun starts to rise, so i head on my way. so he cracks my skull open from behind with the metal hatchet he was hiding the entire night XD
taught me that everyone is a potential threat...people will kill you in this game just because they can. later that game i was given a shelter, armour, food, metal hatchet and pick, guns...everything i could need by a person about to log off for a while. i learnt that although people will kill you for no reason, some people will help you for exactly the same reason...because they can.

I was lost in the wastelands, wandering around for at least 45 minutes. So I decided to end it all and walked towards the ocean at dawn to drown myself whilst playing sorrowful music. Didn't know about the "suicide" command...

Got lost in the wastelands too. I had a lot of loot on me (for a beginner), and I didn't want to kill myself. I had a house on the cliffs at the south of the map. A small shelter hidden in the rocks, almost impossible to find if you didn't know it was here. Well, I wandered for two hours before finding the cliffs again, came close to my shelter, missed a jump and.. Died. Couldn't find my bag after. FML

Spawn near hanger, start looting and get killed before you even realize someone was there ... not just first time I died btw it was also the first 10min of my rust life.

First time I fell off a cliff. Ouch.
Second time I lost a rock fight ;) ...I'd won the first one and got cocky. The next guy knocked my lights out. Yes, I was that aggressive noob player who attacked everyone with a rock. Well, at least for my first hour or so in the game.

I bought rust when there were only a few official servers, and on each server there was about 200 players at all times. So, I think asking me when I first died is pointless - I died every minute... Surviving for five minutes was considered fortunate for solo players who just joined xd

I saw a flying guy who come at me when i was killing a chicken and he killed me.

Walked 10 steps into someone's front yard.

So this was in the webplayer days, back when the mountains didn't have rocky features on them, and the map was mostly plains. The zombies roamed and the 2 tanks across from hangar and the small tanks were a field. M4's costed 200 metal fragments and 9mm pistols were a default blueprint and costed 30 metal fragments. To create a 9mm bullet, it costed 1 gunpowder and 1 metal fragment, and gunpowder costed 1 sulfur and 1 charcoal. Bolt actions and revolvers and pipe and hand shotguns didn't exist yet, and you had to download the game every time you wanted to play. There were maybe 5 servers TOTAL, where they were region servers.
So I had just bought the game had gathered a few items before running around trying to find a nice place to build a shack. So running around I find hangar, after following the road for a few minutes and thinking that the island was much larger and that it would split off. I find the hangar and decide to build there and make a gun and shit so I can protect myself from animals and shit. I wanted to make as many friends as possible. So I run toward the hangar and a guy runs past me screaming "DONT GO TO HANGAR! RUN AWAY! DON'T GO TO HANGAR RUN AWAY" and I ignored him thinking he was a retard who thought everyone was a bandit. I run toward hangar and hear a shotgun go off (I thought it was either a sound effect from the soundtrack that WAS in the game at this time or someone shooting an animal. Plus I didn't know guns at that time) and I see a guy in red, and a couple guys in black. I start to think "Oh boy, some guys who can help!" and I say "Hello there! Can you help me?" and as I am saying that, someone else is thinking the same thing and is blasted with a shotgun. I automatically "Oh fuck" and they say "Oh shit buddy sorry what was that?" all while one is rushing me and the others already started shooting. Once the rushing guy got close the others stopped shooting and I started hitting him with a rock. He just goes "Oh, oh oh! That's not gonna do anything why bother" and blasted me. I died and yeah all my 30 minutes of loot and shit was gone. I dusted myself off and survived for a few hours before finding a group of guys to live with and getting raided hours later. Dying again. so yeah I gave you pretty much the first day of rust for me.

I got 7 kills in a row and quickly realized there were no kill streaks.. died cause of no more ammo :(.

It was a saturday afternoon, I join on an official, non-pvp server, because I knew this game was hardcore even before buying it. I knew man was the wolf of man, so I wanted to try the mechanics out before moving to the pvp environment.
After wandering, completely lost, through uncountable abandoned wooden shelters, small, poorly built shacks on top of huge rocks or at the side of the road, I was startled by footsteps different than mine. With nothing but a jagged rock in my hand, I turned around and saw a wolf running towards me. The beast immediately bit my leg, probably chopped a small part of it off, but I had already began running desperately for my own life, running aimlessly on a vast plain full of wooden shacks. Holy crap I didn't know what to do. Nothing could have prepared me for that encounter.
I ran for a good couple of minutes, getting bitten in the ass every time I slowed my pace or turned around trying to spot my predator.
Eventually I got too tired, maybe it was the blood loss, or the acceptance of my fate, since I didn't even know where I was. I turned around, and knew my fate had come.
The wolf came sprinting towards me, mouth open, while I began raising my rock high above my head, preparing a mortal blow to the animal's head.
I swung my arms as hard as I could, delivering a rock-smashing hit to the creature's skull, but to my surprise it didn't seem to bother the least it the ferocious beast. Very soon I was mauled to death and my body fell lifelessly to the ground. I remember that the last thing I still heard was the sound of my flesh hitting grass and stone, tumbling gracefully as my consciousness blackened. Before my soul was extinguished I even heard my killer panting, probably enjoying himself as he now had something to feast upon.
Everything turned dark, big words of doom were the only thing I had left. But I chose the light.
And then I respawned

I recall it vividly quite surprisingly.... after reading for an hour how deadly this game was, I had to get it. Entered a server, in the middle of nowhere, immediately I start hitting shit with my rock... I finally work out how to get some food, and make myself a shack. I had seen a couple of fleshies wandering around, but decided due to the warnings I would avoid them.
Later on, I'm cooking myself some chicken and it's getting dark. But I'm safe in my shack.... I decide I'll be a creep and have run around at night with my torch, by this point my heart is pounding as I hear wolves around me. My torch goes out and I spend the next 20 mins running from what sounded like a pack of hungry wolves wanting to tear me to pieces, at this point I'm already terrified.
Now to my death. I somehow lose the wolves but I'm completely lost by now. I see a campfire in the distance and wander towards it to see a fleshy, I walk up to make first contact. He says "hello, have some chicken" I get my mic and reply with "thanks mate". Nek minnut, while I'm watching the quiet glow of the campfire BLAM BLAM!! I watch as my companions head stretches out and his corpse goes flying... my balls drop. Immediately, two figures dressed in red, with black mops on their head brandishing what looked like rifles (shotguns) manifest in front of me: they speak (with a very childish voice): "Who the fuck are you?? stand where you are and don't move" "ok" "DROP THE ROCK NOW" *drops rock* "Right now move on shitter"... as I turn to move off, I hear a battle ensue behind me: a bunch of others have shown up in the blackness and annihilated the two hostiles... now they're after me. I spend the next 30 seconds, running from something I can't see, running into things I can't see, shitting myself, my heart is bursting out of my chest. I run into a wall, turn around and 3 guys dressed in black tell me to "freeze bitch" "ok" BLAM. Dead.
I didn't play for another two hours after that. Totally screwed me up, even had a nightmare when I went to bed about it.

My third death is also mildly entertaining.... and certainly worth a mention (My second I'm pretty sure I just got eaten by a bear).
So I've managed to calm down enough to play the game after my post above. I get back to my shack's sleeping bag and go out for some looting... after about 10 mins, I spot 6-7 fleshies running around not far from my location, I watch them rock another fleshy to death, and then they see me: I shit myself.
I start sprinting back to the safety of my shack, and I hear them behind me... they're close, and making horrible goblin sounds and screaming shit at me. I get back to my shack and slam the door closed... the relief washes over me.... but then they start hitting my door with something; why would they do that? surely they can't get in. After about 5 hits each, the terror builds up. I turn around and frantically get some ingredients together to make a hand cannon I had looked at crafting earlier. They're still hitting my door about 1 minute later.... I hear them taunting me, saying "We're going to gang rape you". I'm thinking 'fuck this game...'. But I craft the hand cannon, I arm myself with it, and point it at the door. My aim is wobbly, as I'm filled with adrenaline, suddenly the door bursts into pieces, and I hold down the fire button! BLAM!!! I see two of the five's heads stretch back. The rest get inside and pummel me into gloop with their rocks.

Logged in after the game had been reset(this was in the webplayer days), got shot in the head as soon as I spawned. Person in question was one of those people who only signed up for the forum for the fraction of a chance of getting access to the game back then.

I got the game when it first came out, with a browser version of rust and only around 3 servers... When i logged in there was a guy in full leather who immediately shot me in the face with a shotgun.. :)

Joined, had my friend locate me and run me to a shared base.
Made myself a room and decided to go for a wander by myself.
Got dark and ran right into the middle of a pack of radioactive bears & wolves.

Installed rust and watched a few videos so I had an idea of what to do. I load up go towards a tree and begin swinging my rock, I'm pretty sure I was headshotted by somw guy before my swing animation finished

Spawned, had no idea what I was doing, and some guy with a little willy hanging down walked up to me and shot me in the face with a handcannon.

I remember my first day and death!
I had no clue about the game.. i watched a quick trailer and though "I am buying that!" So off to steam i went... I got in the server and had no idea what to do.. Questions like "How do you get wood?" "How do you get stone?" flew off my fingers to the keyboard!... I hit some trees but never find a rock! .. Now its getting dark.. Oh shit! There are people with guns ahead of me... 3 of them in red jackets... BLAM BLAM guns start firing but they are not firing my way, A single guy has snuck up behind them and unleashed holy hell upon them with what I assume was a shotgun... now the three dudes in red jackets are dead. I see the guy looking down at their bodies stock still and I wondered what he was doing (Obv now know he was looting their packs).. Suddenly he looks up and see's me.. OH SHIT again and he runs at me... "Hey mate come here" he shouts.. Fuck this I think he is gonna blast me... "Mate come here Take this"... I stop anyway and turn... He runs up to me and looks at the floor... All of a sudden little bags start flying out of him so i pick them up... A shotgun, Some chicken and clothes! "thanks" I say and he asks if I am new.. i tell him that i am and he offers to guide and help me! SAVIOR! So we walk around and talk, he teaches me the basics and builds me a hut... he puts the door on for me (yes you know where this is going!) and makes me a sleeping bag and box. I pitch down for the night and put the stuff i had collected while with him in my box. We sit at the camp fire cooking chicken and I tell him I am going to get a drink..... So I sit down and am surprised that my guide has gone :( So i go into my box to get my... where the fuck is my stuff?!!! BASTARD he stole it all!!! Fuck I was raging! On teh chat I said all sorts to my so called guide and throw the door open to go and find him........ Wellllll... I didn't have to go far..... well go anywhere at all for that matter..... the door flies open and there he is looking right at me... right at me down the barrel of a shotgun "MORNING BITCH" sounds over the voip and BOOM! Muvafuker has killed me! Bastard! So i quickly respawn... Before anything even comes into focus.... BOOM!!! OH MY GOD! MUVAFUKER!... ****RAGEQUIT*****
